We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor.5:8, Also, read John chapter 14:1 thru 3. Psalms 116:5, Rev. 21:4, Rev. 7:15,16,17. The whole book of Revelations is very good on Heaven, I like the Gospel of John best. God Bless You!!

There is not a lot of verses, but 2 Cor 5:6 says, "Therefore [we are] always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, [I say], and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
This is one verse that indicated that as soon as we leave this body we are in Heaven with Christ.

The Bible tells us that there is not only life after death, but eternal life so glorious that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to the earth to give us this gift of eternal life. “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23).

Regardless of what's in the Bible (and you can and should read it for yourself) probably what happens to us after death happens to us all regardless of our religious faith or lack thereof. When the brain stops functioning, the personality ceases to exist. However, as you must have learned at some point, matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. You may become a tree that grows over your grave. You may nourish the growth of baby cubs whose bear-mother eats your carcass in the woods. Life goes on, but not your ego.

Revelation 20:13-15 (New International Version)
13) The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14)Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15) If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 1:18 (New International Version)
I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades
i think these 2 verses right here says that we will be waiting in death for the judgment then after judgment will be either eternal life or eternal punishment. but that is just how i read it.

Angels escort your spirit to a place of comfort
Philippians 3:20-21 says Jesus will change our "vile"bodies. What will our glorified bodies look like when we get to heaven? We have some clues by noting the characteristics that Jesus' body had when He rose from the grave. Our glorified bodies will appear different. We will therefore recognize each other by the spirit. What we really look like on the inside will be apparent to all. Jesus' body could go through walls (John 20:26).It felt like ours; Thomas touched it (Luke 24:39-40). On the road to Emmaus, the disciples didn't recognize His new body and He vanished in front of them (Luke 24:13-32). Jesus even ate with His disciples. In our glorified bodies, we don't have to eat for sustenance, but we will be able to eat for pleasure (Luke 24:39-43; Matthew 26:29). It will have no pain, no sickness, no aging, no restrictions (with the power of translation), and be able to appear in different forms.

2 Corinthians 5:8
"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
the whole chapter in 2 Corinthians 5 is about assurance of the resurrection.

I'm Buddhist so I'm going to tell you what will happen according to Buddhism...
During your whole lifetime you're collecting karma good and bad...(hopefully more good)
So, when you die depending on how much good/bad karma you have you go to hell or heaven and your karma also determines how long you are there.
Then you get reincarnated but your karma follows you.
Ex. Good karma: -you're born as a human
- you are smart
-born into good family
- Good life
Bad karma: -born as animal
-die young(drastic example)
-sad life
then the cycle repeats itself until you reach nirvana
