I tend to over-react to certain things so this might just be nothing... (not telling what it is)...

But could you please just say a simple prayer for me to be healed of something?

A lot of times I see people claiming that you have to believe in whatever god/goddess etc. that they do or you don't get to go to Heaven (or their version of it). Do you (people that do this) realize that no human being can change a belief just because they want to? You can't force yourself to think differently, usually until you see a reason or proof (and usually reading the Bible or other book is not seen as proof).

Here's an example: "There are really unicorns, they live in the desert around my house. You have to believe in them or my Creator will string you up from the ceiling with floss. So change your ideas right now because it's the right thing."

Let me guess, you still don't believe in unicorns? That is because you can't force yourself to change a belief-- if it happens, it does, and if not it's no fault of your own. So please don't say that we need to change our beliefs, because we just can't. It's not human nature, the brain just wasn't built like that.

Thoughts?

Most of them spend their time either:

> adapting their own lives in a vain attempt to be more godly or,
> picking apart the lives of other people by trying to convert them or condemn them

Could the simplest way to help cure someone of religion be to foster their own personal sense of well being i.e. tell them to get a life instead of living someone elses?

..believe in a supernatural being, or is that they believe in believing?

Think about it. If religious people really believed the things they claimed they believed, would they live their life's the way they do?

I am an Atheist. I know that as Atheists we are not supposed to bash people for their beliefs in religion. Anyway, I get very irritated when I hear people talking about their beliefs in a certain god. I usually respect peoples beliefs, but when it comes to religion I can't hold back the fact of trying to disprove their beliefs. Am I a bad Atheist?

The End Is Near

A priest and pastor from the local parishes are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!"

They planned to hold up the sign to each passing car.

"Leave us alone you religious nuts!" yelled the first driver as he sped by.

From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash.

"Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says 'Bridge Out' instead?"

Anole egg found?
Hi everyone,
Today I found what I think is an anole egg. It was under the log I have put in their tank. One of the male lizards was laying on it to keep it warm. I called Petco to see if I should take it out...and they said yes. So I did and it is under the light on a tupperware cover with mulch that is wet. It is night time now, and I am wondering if I should turn the light off for the night. Or lower the light and put the egg directly under the lamp?
And if you have any other advise on how to care for this egg and to keep it safe and alive...I would greatly appreciate it. Also, once it's hatched, should I get another tank while it is still little?
Thank you!

No one answered me but one person. And didn't tell me whether I should keep the light on overnight.. I ask in here because R&S has more people so if you know anything about lizards .. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

I really screwed up one of my questions lately, and all my friends just overlooked my faulty logic and answered the question that I should have asked.

Have you ever forgiven someone for their mistake cause you knew they would have forgiven you if you had made that mistake?

At 21, I think I've almost grown out of my desire to believe in God, but there are still times in life, like when I'm in a near panic attack over the prospect of dieing, when I want to believe in God. There are times when I even pray to God, but usually only in times of great distress or when I'm feeling grateful for all that I have.

The trouble is that even when I do want to believe in God, I just can't. There is something in my mind too fundamentally logical to allow me to believe in God. So answer me this: How do I delude my rational mind into believing in God?

And please don't answer with: "You've got to have faith." Because that's the only answer I've gotten when I present this question to priests, pastors, etc.

A month or so ago I decided to become baptised at one of our church's informal get together parties. It is tomorrow and it will be in a lake. I've been brought up in a strong christian assembly of god background and I believe that god is the creator and the bible is the word of god. My question is that when i signed up to be baptised, i felt more connected to god than ever before. And now, a month or two later i feel the furthest from god that i have been in a long time. I feel like i shouldn't get baptised if i feel so far from god. I have prayed about this, and im debating whether to get baptised tomorrow. I mean.. I'm declaring my faith when i feel so far from him? I just don't know what to do Any advice?

When I was young I had a lot of Jewish people in my neighborhood that had been embarrassed on many occasions due to their Judaism and I also wondered how Jews deal with living with their Judaism. I have always wanted to help them convert to LDS and complete their faith in God through Jesus Christ his Son and our Savior. I have always had a heavy heart for the Jews and don't blame them for their ancestors having Jesus Christ punished for their ignorance.

:) Just want to help!

I have been asked repeatedly by friends as to what my reaction would be if I died and then found out God was real. I always smile and tell them I'd probably laugh and ask him if He had been paying any attention because it is horrible down there and ask if he had any alchohol...

So what would be your reactions?

I look forward to reading these in the morning... GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!!!!

Muslims say, this is the only way. etc etc etc
Everyone says the same thing --"My way is the only way".

So how can they all be right at same time? Its impossible?

How can a reasonable person choose between many completely contradictory paths toward God?

You cannot choose which country you are born in, so it is obvious that Christians are Christians cause they were born in USA or a weternized country. Hindus are Hindus cause they were born in India or similar. Muslims are Muslims ccause they were born etc etc etc.

So obviously if your religion is decided by where you are born, then religion is just a cultural thing.

What do you think?

any catholic encyclopedia or any other you choose has mountains of evidence that every custom in christmas is a slap in the face of god. ever heard of the book "the two babylons"? good one to look into. Suppose a crowd come to a gentleman’s home saying they are there to celebrate his birthday. He does not favor the celebration of birthdays. He does not like to see people overeat or get drunk or engage in loose conduct. But some of them do all those things, and they bring presents for everyone there except him! On top of all that, they pick the birthday of one of the man’s enemies as the date for the celebration. How would the man feel? Would you want to be a party to it? This is exactly what is being done by Christmas celebrations. If you don't believe me then look it up.
