(Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

What kind of lunatic would make a rape victim marry her attacker?

I don't like Harry Potter mostly because of the obsession over it. And I was thinking, would it be so popular if there hadn't been so much controversy when the first book came out? What do you think?

If we have evolved from some sort of prebiotic soup, and used mutations and gradual advantageous steps forward to become the amazing complex structure we are now, THEN WHY OH WHY did we "evolve" such an incredibly Powerful brain which according to top scientists never even gets used by as much as 1% of its potential? WHY? surely if its chance/survival of the fittest/only evolving what we need then its ludicrous to think this awesome organ which could never be filled even with 1000 lifetimes would never have come about?
Serious answers please. I asked Stephen Dawking this and he never answered me.

It seems to me that having 'faith' means believing in something when there is neither valid reason nor evidence to justify that belief... so do religious folks just accept that faith is irrational, and have it anyway, or do they feel that faith is justified in some way... and if so, how?

This is for everyone, not just Muslims. Why don't we all live and let live, and only fight in self defense if we are attacked by an individual? What do you think?

"We find in verses 2:190-193 that the Quran values religious liberty even above the right to life: "... attacking a religious group (fitnah) is more severe than a plain attack (qatl)." These are the first verses revealed that tell Muslims to fight to defend themselves.

"Jihad" is an Arabic word that means "struggle." It is either military or nonviolent. The verses prescribe when military jihad is allowed. In all other situations, nonviolent jihad (personal and civic struggle) is the only legitimate way to achieve change.

"Fight in the way of God against those who are fighting you and do not start a fight; God surely dislikes aggressors." Since the verb "fight" is in the plural form, jihad is a collective action based on a political decision by "mutual consultation" (Quran 42:38).

Do you see anything threatening or sinister in that question? Was Proud Muslimah advocating a Muslim takeover? Or was she simply trying to show a softer side to her religion?

Now look at this question. It is a response to the one above.

I have been reading a little about Islam. I know nothing about it. I have found somethings disturbing. Can a knowledgeable Muslim please shed some light on these

"Apostasy in Islam is commonly defined as the rejection of Islam in word or deed by a person who has been a Muslim. All five major schools of Islamic jurisprudence agree that a sane male apostate must be executed. A female apostate may be put to death, according to some schools, or imprisoned, according to others."

"A non-Muslim who insults Islam must be put to death, according to most schools of Islamic jurisprudence, or flogged and imprisoned, according to others."

Is this actually true?
