And if so, what do you think about Obi Wan's statement:

"The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded."

Close...The whole movie series is a metaphor for the universal battle between good and evil, God versus satan, right versus wrong, spirit versus flesh. It is a modern day parable inspired by God Himself (He inspires everything in all men), for the benefit of HIs Chosen Ones, or the ones who hear His message. But what makes this movie (and many others) relate directly to Christianity (and no other religion) is among other things, the foundation of the movie itself - that being the JEDI knights.

Je - Jesus
Di - Disciple

Luke Skywalker - Luke - from the Latin for light- metaphor for truth.
Skywalker - One who is spiritually higher, and walks on a higher plane.

He trained under Yoda (God) to defeat the "Dark" side.

It is not a coincidence at all, but the way God designed life, and you would be surprised how many "coincidences" exist in our world that point directly to Jesus Christ. It's an amazing world that we live in, and you touched on a small part of it with your insight. (Now you just need to learn how to grow that insight)

The force is the power of God that is employed by real practitioners of God's laws. Those are His saints which make up the Body of Christ. This is the kind of power that splits seas apart, and heals the blind.

Wait till you hear about the "Revenge of the Nerds."

Inspired question...I hope this helped you.

Well to begin with the "Force" is not a religion even in Star Wars. You don't have a deity to worship and the Jedi don't worship the force. So you can't say that it's a metaphor for Christianity. It's more like a creed to live by - i.e. do no evil, don't give in to passions, etc... and any creed, belief or religion can influence the weak-minded - or the un-educated. Which is why today so many people believe that they will be welcomed by their God for killing people who don't believe in their God.

Basically, as one very sarcastic person put it, "Force users are people with high amounts of unique bacteria within them that allow them to manipulate energy fields."

It's a metaphor for a common archetype found in pretty much all religions: the idea of something invisible that few can tap into, but strengthens while expecting some sort of behavior in return in order to better operate. People of all different religions have been able to find something relevant in the whole Star Wars story. Check out Joseph Campbell's work.

in the late 70s, the book, "The Force of Star Wars" made that very argument.

Ironically, just beforehand, the Fundies were as anti-Star Wars as they are now Anti-Harry Potter, using the exact same rhetoric and fear-mongering.

I think the Force is more metaphor for a spiritual connection to the universe in general - not a specific path.

i can put it simple, the idea of the "force" is in my opinion a metaphor for believe, believe in the self giving yourself no limits. hence using it anything can be done, seeing as both good and evil use it for there gains.

I don't think so.
I believe that it is a metaphor for intelligence and knowledge.
Remember that the Jedi Temple was first and foremost, a library.

Not according to George Lucas, as I recall it was sort of a "spiritual" thing in general, not meant to be representative of any specific religion.
