i mean be reasonable, someone would have to rewrite the enire bible from the beginning for it to not be out of context, now wouldnt they, so i guess john 3:16 is taken out of context too huh, and god doesnt really love you(sarcasm) i mean get real, i remeber when i use to go to church and they would always say there is no such thing as a luke warm christian, in other words you believe in all of it or dont bother calling your self a christian at all, thats when i decided i wasnt one

You can take a single verse out of the whole of the chapter its written in and make the Bible say what ever you want it to say. That is why you should read the Bible with 20/20 vision....Read 20 verses before it, and 20 verses after it. There are a lot of people that will try to take single verses and compare them to others and make that a case for the supposed contradictions in it. When in reality, they have take it out of context. For example, Paul sometimes used sarcasm in his letters. If you were to read only one of those scriptures by itself, it would come out completely opposite of what he was actually saying.
When John 3:16 says BELIEVE in Him (Jesus) in the Greek, it means to put your life into His hands, to trust in Him, not just acknowledge that He exists, for even Satan and his angels acknowledges the existance of Jesus/God. Yet they are not saved, are they. So, if you were to read the verses before it, and the verses after, it would be clearer as to the meaning. Or are you just looking for excuses not to believe the Bible because you don't like the conviction it brings?

When they say it is taken out of context they mean the thought is removed from surrounding thoughts. Sometimes when a statement stands alone, it can convey an entirely different message. I've looked up many misleading quotes on this forum and they were presented out of context. Most people just accept and won't go to the source for verification. That's why so many people are following religions that are so far from the truth. Remember in the middle ages, common people were "not" allowed to possess a bible. I guess that's why that time period is referred to as "The Dark Ages." Everyone was literally kept in the dark spiritually.

an identical reason that believers quote in simple terms factors of the Bible to verify thier desires. I didnt study each and every of the solutions yet I see the asker keeps asserting that this and that have been taken out of context. If the Bible is so stable why could it ever be taken out of context? If it have been stable it is going to flat out say what it potential.

Some people usually ARE taking verses out of context and have no idea what they are talking about when they quote scripture.

You want an example of 'out of context'?

Matthew 27:5
"And he (Judas) cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself".
Luke 10:37
"...Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise".

Things can really get bizarre when people quote scripture out of context.
As for that church you went to, you need to stop letting other people define "Christian" for you and follow the teachings of Jesus. Christians are big on putting a guilt trip on other Christians. Jesus is your judge. If you are looking to other Christians to be perfect before you become one, well, that'll never happen.

Yes well some (so called) Christians will disregard some parts of the Bible (to their peril).I call my self a "follower of Jesus" and have asked questions about some verses and have been accused of taking them out of context like 1Timothy 2:12 Do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. Maybe some of these Christians are "of the world"

Contrary to what English Nazi says: 'Tooken' is as much a word as 'embiggen' and 'thunk'.

The Goat Herders' Guide to the Galaxy is full of stories that make little sense just like the people who believe them.
The 'taken outa context' excuse/reason/whatever is used when there is no other 'logic' that will apply.
So when they use the 'taken outa context' you know you have them on the ropes and they're near to capitulating.

Personally I couldn't believe in a SuperPeepingTom who reputedly watches everything I say, think and do, 24/7, causes me to suffer extreme paranoia, and then has the unmitigated gall to say unto me: I LOVE YOU BUT you had better spend your entire life sucking up to ME or I'll send you to hell.

You only referred to one of the many holy books in the world, so you have taken it out of context.

Did you tooken you time on this question? You should have.
Oh, and to the person under me, get a grip. Study the passages you quote. Don't be a cut and paste moron. No context, to any. You actually ever read a Bible?

"EVERY TIME" Not Every... TIME!

BESIDES.... YOU.... Cannot .... "CORRECTLY".... SHARE THE GOOD NEWS..... John 3:16...... WITHOUT....

Sharing.... John 3:17-18 YOU..... MUST GIVE.... The GOOD... News....... " AND " ... The BAD NEWS..... For Rejecting..... GOD!

(John 3:17-18-19) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

(Joh 3:18) He that believeth on him is not condemned:

but he that believeth not

is condemned already,

because he hath not

believed in the name

of the only begotten Son of God [ JESUS].

(Joh 3:19) And this is the condemnation,

that light is come into the world,

and men loved darkness

rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.

Thanks, RR

so is that what you believe that you were "luke warm" basically what you are referring to is the belief that if you really, really do know Jesus Christ you cannot be anything but on fire fir him since he is the Risen Lord, true joy and love for him cannot be anything but that and then with regards to the Bible, you know the answer already you just don't like it
