I don't know bu I think that it could prevent this:
Your stalker clicks in one of your contact's profile and your contact stared or answered your question, the stalker could see it.

I also wish Y!A would do away with the privacy thing. I hate it when I see someone who asks one interesting question, but I can't see any of their other questions because they are private. that precludes me from finding out whether that person is really as interesting as the one question I saw posted. As for my own network, it is small, but varied. Some of the people in it, well, I really have no idea what particular religion they ascribe to.

I just had some christian troll or trolls do a reporting run on my account so it is all back to locked down privacy and my avatar is changed again with a new name.
I am very ticked off with christian report trolls right now.
I suspect from the report pattern that it was one christian with multiple accounts.
I wish it could be an open forum but unless Yahoo starts looking at the report trolls and fixing their problems that is not possible. Anybody who has participated for a while remembers the massive account deletions that used to happen here everytime somebody got annoyed.

I set my network to private because I do not want anyone to know with whom I connect on a regular basis. I also do not want anyone in my network whom I have deleted to know that they are no longer part of my main network. Plus, if I am targeted for any reason, the others in my network will remain safer if their names are not made available to trolls, etc.
Yes my network includes people of all religions -- Atheist, Agnostic, Gnostic, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Wiccan, Pagan, you name it, I got it, and I LOVE IT (and them).

I can't speak for 'people', but I can tell you why mine's shut down:
I've had so many questions and answers deleted, many of which were a couple of days old, that I figured someone was sniffing my back trail.
If they were using my QA to search my answers for things to report as violations, I figured I might as well make it difficult.
So, operating on the possibility, I shut everything down.
I also blocked everyone I saw doing rants I thought made them candidates to try to have me banned..

I don't know and don't have any contacts. I don't even know how you add contacts! LOL I have wondered how a lot of regular posters around here seem to "know" each other. Is there a YA chat board that they all go to or something? Just curious, too!

I guess I have mine set on private as habit. Like my email etc. No specific reasoning to it.

People like to hijack your answers and report you for abuse. Some people just lack all ability to face you openly in the forum, so their "clever" little childish tactic is to rampage through your answers and report you for abuse.
