Ever since 9.11. and the Afghanistan, Iraq wars We hear more and more about Muslims... And how peaceful they are! Just as all those Christians warmongers!
And on this forum are they joining forces against atheists?
Why?

Since almost none of you could give me a brief answer as to what entails ID(not all of you) But that question was meant to find out who actually knew what ID entailed and had made an informed decision to teach their kids that, and those who really only have a vague idea, spurred on by their pastors. If you are not fully informed, why would you want it to be taught. Also, since I was told to look it up myself, does this mean that those who answered as such will refrain from EVER asking a question about evolution, and instead, actually study it for themselves? As far as I am concerned, those who told me to "look it up" should have the sincerity to never ask a question about evolution again. Agreed?

Like, er, dinosaur fossils all test up objectively as sixty or more million years old, and few-celled plangkton have left perfect statues of themselves in rocks half the age of the Earth itself, cuppla biwwion yeeeers, mate, their "tissue" exchanged, molecule by molecule into rock, in the fossilization process that takes millions of years in itself , sometimes.

And then there's apes to humans ....... when, over a million years ago some local band of primates behaved, in some small ways, differently ...... one thing led to another and, next thing, over hundreds of thousands of years of gradual gradual change we get humans (not sure how many species thereof)

Anyway, it all takes quite a while. So, if people already believe in a Genesis scale timespan, do the provable figures bamboozle them?

1. Crucifixion probably began in Persia in the 7th century BC. Alexander the Great used it throughout his campaigns. The Romans adopted it for slaves, rebels and criminals who were not Roman citizens (except for treason).

2. Strong’s word # 4716, the Greek “stauros,” means either pole or cross. But the cross was the device so widely used for centuries before the time of Christ, as well as in Roman times.

So why do JW insist that it’s important to believe that Christ died on a pole, not a cross? And why is the distinction so important to their religion?

(I do understand their argument about bowing down to crosses, etc., but that’s an entirely different issue than how Christ died.)

This is a rephrasing of a question I have already asked, as that one is running out of time and I still need more data. Just tell me what you think a soul is. If you think it is what is in a book, say which book, preferably with citation(as to the chapter or verse). If you have your own beleifs as to what it is, tell me about it. If you think it doesn't exist, put that down to. Thank you.

I don't mean this to be sarcastic or insulting. I have noticed through my own expierences that most (not all, but almost) "Saved" Christians have been saved after some sort of tragedy, or failure or crisis in their life. Which I think is fantastic, please don't get me wrong, If Religion has one redeeming quality, it is, weather or not the religion is true, it does give people a foothold to recovery. My issue is that many of the "SAved people" I know dont take any resposibilty for their choices that put them in a situation to need be saved. Any or all of the people who have been affected by the person previous to being saved end up being targets for the self ritoue retoric that comes from the culprit being saved. I guess Im asking does being saved get you out of any accountabilty to the people you have hurt or damaged prior to being saved. Thats The feeling I get. This is not to agitae only to understand.

Aren't there other, more pressing issues?

Before I start, I'm not an antichrist or believer, I just don't know whats waiting for me when I hit the end of my road so I choose not to believe or disbelieve anything.

But the question from me is: Is religion just false hope for people who have nothing else in their life to enjoy?

I don't pray to a god, I don't feel the need to be forgiven by anyone other then the person I've upset, and I have a pretty normal life with family and friends that I love. In short, I have no reason to have hope in a god. So to that end, do other people have hope and faith in gods because the rest of their life lacks fulfilment?

As I see it, a god (none in particular) offer enlightenment and fulfilment through worship. Is it not our own our own selves who are responsible for our happiness? To rely on others to give us what we need is weak willed and pitiful, and I think we should work to create our own happiness, not expect it given on a plate.

What do you lot think? Am I just a cynic?

Mother Teresa Quotations

• Love is doing small things with great love.

• Do not wait for leaders. Do it alone, person to person.

• Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.

• We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.

• There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives--the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them.

• There should be less talk. A preaching point is not a meeting point.

Christianity is how we got here. Christianity is how the US was founded. Christianity is how we learned to be stable by loving as family and community. Not until our talk of evolution, our replacing of Christian fish with Darwin trash, and our worship in survival of the fittest did we start overglamorizing Hollywood and vices such as porn and overindulgence. What do we want to do? Have faith in a God of love who had his son come to save our sake or do we want to stare at a fish that we once were and fall back into the water?

Move on from our current location, look for the correct road and do not put time to waste on the world’s obstacles. Worldly men and worldly women will prevent you from passing by, so therefore stay away from the immoral, the ungodly and the sinner. Be ignorant of these people, forget them and pay them no more attention then they deserve. The Lord God will know His own. Follow not the lifestyles of worldly people; participate not in business, politics, sports, warfare and all things unspiritual. The Heavens are better then the earth and what the Heavens contain cannot be equaled by the world’s contents. Worldly people are inferior to heavenly people, as does the world pleasures trick and play around with mankind and the heavenly people who pass by are free of the world. For the righteous, just, wise and the faithful there is a place where such men will be better off, everything he needs will be given and man will see and know God. Along your way do not go off the road and keep following your Fathers wishes as He will guide you as your travel. Devote all of yourself to God and let not a single part of you be lost in the world. The darkness will try to stop you but its hope to make you fall back down will not result in anything because you have been saved.
