The approach to Christianity known as “evangelicalism” insists on a literal interpretation of Biblical narratives and is heavily focused on ideology. On many issues, this may or may not be problematic but I submit that a literal interpretation of Biblical texts applying the death of Jesus to Temple sacrifice was never meant by the Apostles as a statement of faith, but as a tool for the first century Jews. Read my blog "The Error of Evangelicalism" on my 360 page and comment-at-will.

Here's an example:
Say a Christian loves everyone and always avoids speaking poorly of others (no name calling, etc). He respects the truths in other religions when applicable. He tolerates other people and their religions. He believes in EVERYTHING Jesus taught in the Bible: both everything about LOVE --AND also-- about Jesus being "the ONLY way" (i.e.- no 'other' way/all other gods="false" -New Testament).

Question 1: Would you say that such a Christian is a "bigot"?
Question 2: If you do believe they are truly a bigot, why would you engage in name calling?
Question 3: Moral relativism is the belief that "what may be right for you may not be right for someone else". Moral relativism denies one absolute truth (example: Jesus' claim of being the "only" salvation). Do you think it is bigoted to claim moral relativism is the only way by being intolerant of those religions that claim absolute truth instead?

Thanks, peace to everyone :)

Sorry if I am hurting peoples' feelings :(, but I can't help but believe that at least a part of the reason to why you attend church or donate to charity because you believe it insures YOU a place in heaven, makes YOU feel better about yourself, puts YOU in a good light, etc.

If "God" actually called upon Christians to travel to some faraway land penniless, I doubt that many of them would do it.

There are ethical issues with stem cell research and cloning. But where do we draw the line with "playing God?"
Engineering babies like in the movie 'Gattaca' could be considered "playing God" by some, but what about modern medicine that prolongs someone's life? Is that playing God as well?
I'm preparing a discussion with my church group on this topic, and I'd like to see what you all think.
Thanks.

okay i am Catholic, but its only cuz my parents were. i'm having a hard time with faith rite now, especially this one quesiton. how is this physically possible? :

in the bible, there was nothing, anywhere, and god decided to make the universe. he made everything over a course of 7 days, and he created the animals we still have today. but scientific evidence has proven that there were dinosaurs and stuff like that. it doesnt say anything in the bible about dinosaurs, and even if they left it out, dinosaurs were here billions of years before us, not days. the only explanation i can think of is that the "days" of god arent standard 24-hour-days, and maybe a god day is a few billion years for us, but that would mean that the earth went billions of years without light, billions of years without water, etc. and i might be wrong about this, but weren't all the animals created on the same day??

i'm not trying to prove the faith wrong, i need a real answer.

Good Evening, I know Psalms literally mean Harp and Praise Music and Dawud was a great musician. But my question is, why is his revelations called the Psalms of Dawud, was the scripture originally accompanied with the harp and singing, or did he recite the verses with music...? Please enlighten me.

Thanks. :)

I'm curious as to why we only see "Science" and other forms of current media outlets continually trying to disprove Christianity and Jesus etc. If you think it is all myth and fairytales then fine, you probably believe as does science and media that all religions are the same. Fake! But tell me it is they ONLY attack Christians? Why not Muslims? The political correctness and politelness of modern Christains make them an easy target. Bash Islam and they will hunt you down, bash Jews and you're a Natzi, only Christains get targeted. Yet every time they do try and disprove it, it seems real at face value, but as you dig deeper, you always find their so-called facts are simply based on far stretching speculation.

For Christ sake (no punt intended) Islam is the easiest to disprove of them all. Basically they made it up as they went and killed each other to prove each version was wrong. Still, they do this today.!

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people.

Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.
