That more and more people these days arent being pressured by their parents into a certain religion. I remember when it seemed everyone, if not believed in god, at least believed in something. Now, more often people seem to have no religion at all.

My question is, Have you guys realized this as well, and do you think its good for the country?

Say, I believe that the Easter bunny wants me to offer to help old ladies carry their groceries to their cars and Santa wants me to spend my extra money to buy food for the homeless guy on the median. Is that ok?

1. Certain interpretations of the moral decisions in the Bible are considered ethically questionable by many modern groups.

2. Some of the passages most commonly criticized include the subjugation of women, condemnation of homosexuality, support for the institution of slavery, the orders to kill any disobedient children, and the order to commit the genocide of the Canaanites and the Amalekites.

3. Other critics of the Bible, such as Friedrich Nietzsche, have criticized the morality of the New Testament, regarding it as weak and conformist-oriented.

Like Bush & his whole 'God directed holy war against the Axis of Evil'?

Mabye it's effective to make people think we're in the end times by using the Bible/revalations as your play-book, and by milking it they can make money, grab resources for money etc.

I atended church yesterday for the first time in ages, and all the new Christians came up the front to be prayed for. The pastor said a salvation prayer for them, and told them that they are now Children of God. Most churches think if you say a salvation prayer you are saved. I do not agree with that. Also why do most churches believe once saved always saved? I disagree with that as well. Jesus said in Revelations that no Murderer(any hate for people) slanderer(abusing people)Idolitry, Adultry, Sexual immorality etc will enter the kingdom of God. Take my sister for an example. She claims to be a christian and yet she will go around to my mothers house and call her every name under the sun and she backstabs people, and thinks she is going to Heaven, when the world of God says that people like that will not go to Heaven. I am improving on my behaviour and bad language, and hope to improve more and more, and ask God to forgive me, so by the time I go home either in the rapture

An Athiest once said something like this,

"i contend sir that we are both Athiest, I just happen to believe in one fewer gods than you do. when you can tell my why it is that you do not believe in every other god that has been worshiped. then you should be able to see why it is that i do not believe in your God."

I would like to know if this statment provokes any thought in your head. so what are your thoughts?

Since several JW prophecies have failed, Jehovah Witnesses now claim they do NOT receive direct inspiration from God similar to a PROPHET. Instead, they state they are learning, and will correct errors in their organization when made aware of them.

With this in mind, how can the witnesses be sure their New World Translation Bible is accurate, when they eventually revealed(though previously they had chosen to keep it secret), that only ONE of the five men who wrote their Bible translation had any experience with Greek and Hebrew translation?

This ONE gentleman was Fred Franz who ONLY had 2 years of Greek in college. These are the names of all the men credited with translation the NWT Bible:

Nathan Knorr
Albert Schroeder
George Gangas
Fred Franz
M. Henschel

Without direct prophetic instruction from God, imperfect men with limited experience, are bound to make errors when translating. Also, why did the witnesses choose to keep the names of these men secret?

in order to get into the Heaven Club? I'm only human and that entitles me to make honest mistakes. They are not sins. I will not admit that I'm a sinner to anyone unless I truly commit a sin.
Is this idea that we all fall short of God's expectations a mechanism to crush one's self esteem and make us weak and easy to manipulate?

When I think about creation and the process from Gods divine ordering and commanding to things taking shape and obeying that informing and imposition of intelligence, I can imagine shapes, forms, living beings arising and evolving at the command of God out f the materials present. This was the time of the "womb" I guess, the womb of the universe. In this way I can imagine how things arose in similar fashion and yet dissimilar. This must have been something like a "evolution" in fact yet not what moderns believe. If yo imagine the process, how do you imagine it as reasonably happening.
I also wonder if the massive amounts of energy and other unique occurences of that moment or moments would affect aging theories, because certainly this would not fall into line with uniformitarianism.
