They love to stand up and claim they are Christians, but when it comes down to the personal examination... they will do anything to back out of their commitment to obey God and His precepts.

I do not follow any religion and wish only to live life by my own rules.
Not by a set of rules written down thousands of years ago by someone who believed the world was flat.
My wife is religious but has never forced me to follow her beliefs, in fact she welcomes my point of view in her religious discussions with her family and friends.

I do not believe in heaven or hell but i do believe in Good and Evil.
I do not believe i will be judged when i die.
I do not believe in an afterlife.

So back to the Question at hand,,, am i evil? i would really like to hear everyones opinion and reasons.

Not only have Christians told me evolution is false, but they tell me it is a ridiculous idea if I think about it. Is that so? Hmm... what a more logical alternative you present, though.

No offence intended. I just need to know what the real reason is for one to have to confess to a priest his or her sins when he or she could easily just sit in front of the alter and speak to God directly. God, being an omnipotent and almighty being would have anyway already know what sins we commit and by only through prayers that we could seek his forgiveness. So, why the need to have a middleman to pray on our behalf? Most importantly, why do we need to divulge our secrets (sins) to another human being when God already knows what has happened?

I'm studying and practicing different religions, and so far I've got Christianity and Wicca down, now I want to study Buddhism, I know I could check out a book or look up a website, but I prefer to study my religions by discussing them with other people, are there any buddhists out there who would be willing to IM and chat with me on it?

Lust is sinful, but the bible says that because man is prone to sin he is to have a wife. Even if the man has the wife, does this give the man permission to fully explore his sinful side? That is, should the man lust only for the purpose of procreation or is her permitted to explore exotic sex positions or practices with his wife that borders on homosexuality, e.g. the wife using a strap-on dildo?

I remember Thomas Aquinus saying in Summa Theologica that sex is only to be used for procreation and that any sexual desire that does not result in procreation (e.g. masturbation) is self-indulgent and thus sinful. Is this true? What if you do it under marriage?

To sum it up, is sex for fun sinful, even if you do it with your wife?

If a person grows up in a remote part of the world, never having a chance to learn the teachings of Christ, or Islam, they have no fault in their failure to follow what those religions teach are requirements in order to enter Heaven.

If a child is born to a family in a rural part of the world in an area that is 100% Islamic, that child will become a muslum and may never be expose to Christianity. How can that person be faulted by (Christian) God for not following his commandments?

One of my problems with religion are these types of dilemmas. To me the above two examples are of people to whom a God that exists would not object to them not following a certain set of rules. Therefore if they can find salvation without these restrictions, why can't anybody?

Who says I have to go to church on Sunday? What need is there for me to eat a dry cracker and drink fake wine? I don't believe I have to. I think if you are a good person who is kind to others, thats all you need to do.
