A bunch of baal priests go to Elijah and say " hey, we can put a sacrifice on the alter and have Heaven take it, theres no big deal in that". So Elijah says, "have at it".
So, they put the sacrifice on the alter, and the baal priests beat their chests, chant, dance, hold their hands in the air, etc.
And after quite a while, Elijah says the equivalent of : "maybe you should yell louder, maybe your god has taken a potty break", which made them real angry - so they yelled and womped and carried on some more. Finally, the baal dudes tell Elijah, well okay its your turn, lets see what you can do.
So Elijah dug a deep trench all around the alter and filled it with water; then he dumped gallons upon gallons of water all over the alter, the sacrifice, until it was dripping wet.
He asked the Father to bless and take the sacrifice, and it went up into a great fire, and the sacrifice was consumed.
This is just one of my favorites. God, along with the prophets have a really good sense of humor - I like that.
