That more and more people these days arent being pressured by their parents into a certain religion. I remember when it seemed everyone, if not believed in god, at least believed in something. Now, more often people seem to have no religion at all.

My question is, Have you guys realized this as well, and do you think its good for the country?

I have, and I think that it is awesome that people are thinking for themselves. I think it is wonderful for any country.

No. There are so many people out there who do not have any solid background they are willing to listen to any kind of garbage (Mary Magdalen and Jesus married for example) I feel sorry for them because I think very soon they will have a cause to depend on some good sound doctrine or be lost. Remember the Scripture that talks about when the oil on the lamps runs out and people will ask to have some of the oil from the people who still have some and they say we can't give you any you should go to a merchant and buy some? Well, we are rapidly coming to that time and I'm afraid the merchant will not have any for them either.

I don't see any drawbacks in lack of religion. Honestly - I don't know that the number of Athiests has increased. I think it's just the number of people willing to admit that they're Atheists has increased. I think a lot of people were and are like my dad. When someone asks about religion he simply says, "I was raised Catholic," and leaves it at that. So people assume he believes in God. The truth is - he doesn't believe in God. It was just more politically correct back in the day to go with the crowd or risk being outcast socially. Yes - I still think a lot of people do this (pretend belief for the sake of the believers and polite society). I know it sounds terrible, but the truth is I've met a lot of "secret" non-believers.

If by religion you mean Christian vs. (insert whatever) then I believe it is the parents duty to lead them to Christ. We as parents have no greater goal in life than to make sure our children receive the correct guidance to make the right choice.

But, you are right pressure is not the best way to show a child the right path and it can leave them confused and lost in ways that are worse than if they had never heard. We as parents should lead by example and our very lives.

I have realized what you have observed and no it is not good for our country or any country.

I've realized it, I just hadn't been able to name it. It is happening, people are choosing not to believe in something. I, personally can't fathom it, however I try not to be terribly judgmental.
As the decline in structured and pointed beliefs of religion die out in some families, is it closely tied to the decline in morals? Is it connected to the more liberal, and sometimes plain crude, actings that assault our youngsters, teens, and young adults, some being my my peers? This lack of faith based on "no evidence" is in a way upsetting. Why is proof needed? Sometimes you just have to hope for something and pray with a whole heart that there is some higher power to hear.
God Bless--

Is religion good for a country ever? I believe having a religion has always been good for the indivivual and that fewer people are participating is bad for all the individuals. Inclouding the ones presently participating.
