James 3

13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

'And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Quran) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.' (Qur'an 2:23)

'O Children of Israel! Remember My Favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfill (your obligations to) My Covenant (with you) so that I fulfill (My Obligations to) your covenant (with Me), and fear none but Me.'
And believe in what I have sent down (this Quran), confirming that which is with you, [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], and be not the first to disbelieve therein, and buy [get (تاiذ اجرا)] not with My Verses [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] a small price (i.e. getting a small gain by selling My Verses), and fear Me and Me Alone. (Qur'an 2:40-41)

"scientific" people can help give excuses as to why it cant possibly have anything to do with religion or spirituality...just because they like to argue, because they must not have had much attention when they were younger.

Christians and Muslims: I respect religion and religious people, so please don't use my question as a bash-board.

Well, my assumption is, religion exists in most human beings and every trait the human beings have is a useful trait, so says evolution, so religion has kept its place during the ages. Also, please remember that there is a gene that determines if we are religious or not. (That is a gross generalisation but helps me express my idea.)

Atheists, what function do you think religious feelings serve in human societies and history. Please remember that there were/are pagan, shaman, Hinduist, Budhhist, Shintoist religions, too, and each have a different set of social rules.

Do you think that Canada makes it worse for everyone with different religious beliefs to co-exist by restricting traditions, among other things, (i.e. the use of the word "Christmas", Christmas tree in government places, etc.) that have been here for quite some time? Restricting traditions for, say a Christian, in an attempt to 'please' another, say a Muslim, will create resentment (whether they admit it or not) from the 'group' that were forced to conform to this new colourless, non-distinct society, for fear of "offending" because of different religious beliefs and observances.
But we are exactly the opposite. We are all different and that is what makes it beautiful - why suppress it? Who is really getting offended?

ignores it as trainloads of "god's chosen" children get stripped naked and carted into the gas chambers? Get ripped away from their mothers, then shivering naked, cold and crying, get kicked in the head and dragged to their death by SS men? Tortured in experiments, then killed?
Where was God's miracles and parlor tricks then? Where were God's heroes whom he calls upon in Biblical times to save them?
There is no God, if there was, this God sucks.

How is an obese old hick in a tent revival with an old football injury more worthy than a small child of God's chosen who endured more suffering than anyone could ever imagine?

If a particular religion has legs to stand on, shouldn't joining said religion be something that an individual decides for him/herself? Why do some people/religions indoctrinate their children before those children are even old enough to truly understand what it is?

I was doinmy Bible study and it had "medical descriptions" of Jesus death on the cross. it explained with vivid detail the pain he suffered from the cat of nine tails, which brought goose bumps down my spine, and how they beat him till he was unreconizeable, and then they nailed him to the cross and the pain he suffered for hours, and it brought tears to my eyes when i read it b/c he suffered for me and you and our sins, if you just read what i read youd cry to, its so sad and i really never thought about it that way,

but do you think people take lightly the actuall pain he suffered,
its not just ok he died on the cross for oour sins he suffered terribly for us and some people just put him down

Merry Christmas

if you wanna read what I read get Bible Docterines for today 10th grade Bible study from Abeka books and then go to the blue page that says Medical decriptions

I'm a christian, and therefore know that ten commandments are part of the christian teaching. But I was wondering, are the Thn Commandments part of the Jewish relighion as well?
I assume they are, since Jews (as i gather anyway, correct me if i'm wrong) have Moses as one of their main profiets, and it was moses who gave us those commandments.

I awoke this morning and turned on the news and what to my wondering eyes should appear an actual news story!!! New Jersey’s legislature is to pass civil unions and the governor will sign the bill.
Now math and spelling weren’t my best subjects in school and any time I attempt to do math I start pulling my hair out in clumps so lets see if I can do this with out becoming bald .
50 states 4 (VT, NH, Conn, NJ) have civil unions 1 ( MA) has marriage and 1( CA) has domestic partnerships. That would mean that 6 out of 50 have some form of gay unions or better than 10% WHAT HAPPENED !! Where is the outrage ! Call your congressmen! Check your flood insurance!
With all the money spent on PACs, advertisement and just generally being a pain in the key string. Evangelical Christians seem to be losing this argument. So I have compiled a list of new hobbies evangelicals could be more productive with as political action doesn’t seen to be working out.

It seems the prejudice, bigtroy and self-righteousness is alive and well and much of it stems from religious intolerance. Has the concept of religion outlived it's useful purpose to society? Is it now causing more harm than good?
