I am NOT saying you shouldnt come to the R&S board, its free, I dont care if your here or not. But why, out of curiosity, to SOME of you try so hard to change Christian minds? Be it pointing out "contridictions" in the Bible, or thinking none of us believe in Science, whatever form it takes, why do you?

Do you believe you really will change someones mind, trying to save them from themselves? Or is it really just because the antagonizing is so much fun?

Dont get me wrong, sometimes you all get me thinking, and I go looking for more knowledge about one subject or another. But it has never shaken my faith, and has often reaffirmed it. There are some really great non-christians on the board too. But I am just wondering whats your motive?

The prophecy of Jesus on the 3 days of his "death"... if the prophecy was the same as Jonah, then Jonah was alive wasn't he? How can Jesus be dead on the 3 days? and how come you celebrate good friday and then the next celebration is on sunday, is that 3 days, 72 hours and 0 seconds? or the prophecy was 2 days and something?

I don't get somethings in Cristianity... can someone explain?

The power and might of religion has historically been pretty brutal in its endeavours to convert everyone in its path.
But there also has to be a 'story' to back up the brutality and oppression. So the better the story, presumably the more powerful the message.
Note to major religions - come up with a really good story to back up your claims for ownership of 'the truth'. Oh look - they figured this out in The Holy Land already! - they've come up with three completely different good stories, one after the other.
So do they all believe that their con is better than the others?

The Law of Nature is so perfect (i am not talking about human beings being perfect, we are all bound to make mistakes) if you knew Science and reason and you looked at the stars, moon, people, etc, wouldn't you think how did we get here? how did the first "atom" explode and create such a perfect creation.

People say they don't care, and what matters is that we are here, but you got to say... science proves God... right?

I was talking to my parish priest today about creation. (Roman Catholic) He says God created man/woman and animals on the same day. I believe that, but he also says that dinosaurs are not real because God created man first. Instead, he believes that the dinosaur bones were put here on Earth by God as a "test of our faith". Those were his words.

What do you all think? Does your parish preach this? I'm not buying this at all.

There is a prophetic statement told by prophet Muhammed that says that any slave try to escape from his/her owner would be damned and god would send him/her to hell.

I was surprised to read that statement because I have always thought that prophet Muhammed discouraged slavery, but that statement assures that he instead incouraged slavery.

Does anyone have any explanation for that statement?

I bumped in to this interesting answer about Ouija boards. What do they mean by "cleasing before and after trying the Ouija board?" Do these things really work (Ouija Boards)? The only ones I've seen are made by Parker Bros.

I wish to be as respectful as possible. I am a Christian. I do NOT ask this to challenge your beliefs. I figure that the more I know about others beliefs, the more tolerant I can be about their faith; and the better informed I am.

In the Bible, I enjoy reading the book of "Hebrews" and after that Romans. The reason, is that Paul logically offers reasons for explaining why the Mosaic law had to be done away with, and tries to provide many sound logical reasons and rationalities to the Jewish Christians.

Are there any books in Al-Qur'an that are *similar* in flavor to the book of Hebrews? That are books where Mohammad discusses his reaons and rationalities? Though I may not share it, I want to know more about my faith. (See my other question to see that I am someone who asks things such as this in sincerity)

Okay. Based on what we know from the Bible about heaven, that there will be no tears, no death and no sin in Heaven, and we get to worship God.......tell me......

Just for fun, if God says you can do whatever you want there, what would be the activity you would choose?

Or, if you could take one physical, earthly object with you when you go, what would you take?

(I know Atheists will respond, so if you do, keep in mind, NO SIN!)

Who said this??? and who was he???

I condemn false prophets, I condemn the effort to take away the power of rational decision, to drain people of their free will -- and a hell of a lot of money in the bargain. Religions vary in their degree of idiocy, but I reject them all. For most people, religion is nothing more than a substitute for a malfunctioning brain
