Granted that before Islam spread the Arabs past the borders of Saudi Arabia into land that Jews for thousands and Christians for hundreds of years had been living in, do you think that originally the religion of Islam was just a techinique invented by a camel herder named Mohammed to unify the nomadic idolater Arab tribes and create the Arab empire of the middle east?

Is it because you have interpreted this verse in such a way as to ignore Jesus spending his life from Baptism to Crucifixion to bring us a message. Isn't his message more important than his DNA.

" I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me". -- Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6)

It seems that Jesus' message is the way, the truth, and the life.

It seems through me means "my message".

Jesus warned us that we should not worship him or consider him any different than others. remember, he called himself the "son of man". Jesus considered all people as the the Sons of God, but he referred him self as the son of man. Of course he said our father in Heaven, in his model prayer.

I suppose this is a loaded question. But I welcome disagreement based on something I have overlooked. I also welcome additional information supporting the importance of Jesus' message.

which is

Harmony is harmony.

Disharmony is the only sin against God.

Believer to atheist: You remind me of a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat.
Atheist to believer: Well, you remind me of a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there.

In my country (Australia), the federal government uses a great deal of money gathered from public taxpayers to finance religious institutions. Is it right that in a country that is largely secular money that could be used to enhance community welfare is used as a crutch to prop up religious intitutions.

I am sure people of different religions and athiests alike would resent their taxes being spent on something they do not believe in. Perhaps it would be better for governments to support non-theistic institutions and let those with religous convictions rely on private donations from their believers?

I've read that there are other stories that came before Jesus' that seem similar to His (ie born of a virgin, walking on water, resurrection).
Do believe that this is true?
Do you have a reliable source?

think about it.
in your opinion, we came from apes and monkeys and icky bacteria and worms (are these our great+ grandfathers/mothers?). which means that in your opinion you may think that we are no greater than the cockroaches in my neighbors house.
but since you have no faith, what exactly do you have to hold on to? dont say family, because in the end, we are all alone (except for those who DO believe in a supreme being).
My father is on drugs and is in jail right now. My mother is very sick and diabled. i have been poor most of my life and lived in crime ridden places nearly all my life. i basically had nothing to turn to but my faith. so far it has kept me out of trouble and away from things. when i didnt have faith before, i was constantly confused and in trouble over things, until i found something that made life have a meaning.
So atheists, is life meaningless to you?
