There is myth regarding the Hindu idols. Hindus are often insulted by Muslims and Christians as being idolaters and stone worshippers. This is wholly inaccurate. The idols that we worship play only a symbolic role. They are there to symbolise the gods and not constitute the gods. No Hindu in his or her right mind actually believes that the idols they worship are the gods themselves and will come alive! That is nonsense. The Vedic texts actually prohibit the construction of idols, however ancient Indians chose to prevaricate this religious law. The reason was that they found idols of gods were good as a method to focus worship and give it a direction. No Hindu in their right mind actually believes that god can be reduced to a statue or a clay stone. There is a similar dynamic in all religions. Even Buddhism use religious idols for symbolic purposes. In churches there are often statues of Jesus on a cross. Muslims run around the black rock at Mecca which they call "lord's house". Thus religious symbols are actually practiced in every religion. That is all the Hindu idols are - symbols. Nothing more and nothing less.

Firstly I want to say that if you are someone who doesn’t like limitations, Hinduism or Shiva worship is not for you. Our religion is not a hippy joke, where people can do whatever they want. Hinduism has a proper ethical and moral code of conduct as well, just like every religion. Understand? In so far as a connection with Lord Shiva. This can be done only through worship, devotion, love and dedication, recitation of mantras, meditation and trance. The following websites will help you.

Hindu trinity gods are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva Lord Brama creates the universe Lord Vishnu preserves the universe Lord Shiva destroys the universe, The whole universe ends at a time called the Mahapralaya , even the god brahma is assimilated by god , and again another brahma comes into existance in the next creative cycle It is his skulls that shiva wears, coz brahma represents the highest of the creation of god and the stories say , that lord shiva feels sorry that the skull of such a great demigod should be left floating around, so he makes a garland out of his skulls It represents that universe is created and destoryed periodically, that is the hindu view Like the big bang theory , there is also the big crush theory , it means the whole universe will again come together into a small condensed form which again after sometime will bang and create the universe again ... The hindu view is that everything will dissolve into god and again come out .. It shows that lord shiva is permanent , and the universe is just like an ornament to the lord , and he is not subject to destruction ... he wears so many skulls showing that there were many brahmas before which shows that there was many universes before too...

You can talk to Lord Shiva as if he is right there with you whether mentally or vocally. Set up a small altar with Shiva's picture and statue. Give your devotion/love to Shiva. He hears your every word. The more you talk and devote to Shiva, the more he will connect and talk with you.

You can learn more about this on how to have a very close devoted relationship with Shiva http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhakti_yoga

I have this relationship with Amma. This bhakti path is so effective. It really works and has brought so much love, beauty, grace and blessings into my life. Ever since I started having devotion and love to Amma, I've had over 90 dreams of Amma and She communicates to me all the time.

You can have the same thing with Shiva or any diety that you are in love with. You want to be in love with your form. Good luck on your new spiritual journey!

Namaste,

This is an ashram or monastery run by prominent Saivite monks.

This is where you buy important items to worship Lord Shiva. I reccomend one Rudraksha Mala and one Shiva Lingam.
http://www.rudraksham.com/
This is a website with a great deal of information on Saivism.
http://www.shaivam.org/

If you can afford the trip. You should journey to California which is close to Mexico in order to pilgrimage to a Hindu Shiva Temple. You can learn from the other priests and devotees. To start worship of Lord Shiva you should begin by eating a proper vegetarian diet (no meat or fish). You should also read as much as you can on Shiva and Hinduism every day so your mind is filled with knowledge. Try www.wikipedia.org and http://www.harekrishna.com/

Aum Namah Shivaya.

Whoever you want to find....find withing yourself......Everything which is in Universe is in Human Body.....Do not waste your time to find Shiva on Kailash Parvat (Mount) in Himalyas.......thats symbolic only. Shive (or any other God u belive or you want to belive) is in yourself.....The most unsteady thing in the world is your mind.......If you control it (via Meditation........and Yes dont forget to make a Guru - a Teacher) who will show you the path....you have to walk through it..

According to Hindu Mythology........as per Bhagvat Gita.....God (in the form of Krishna then) says.......Whenever you worship me in whichever form......I will come to you and will answer your prayers. If you feel for Lord Shiva........just concentrate on him or his idol and Meditate and repeat this simple Mantra 'OM NAMAH SHIVAY' no. of times while meditating.

Please do not go after the websites who are trying to sell you some articles to worship Lord Shiva......your feelings and your mind should be pure to worship Shiva ........articles does not really matter....but if you really want to purchase them.......or any of them......please study in full on the net before ordering.

And Yes........find a Guru (The Teacher)!

What do you mean of Getting in Contact.

As per Hindu mythology Lord Shiva is considered to be Lord of Destruction. He lives on Kailasa (Himalayas).

Many of His worshipers are those who leave all the earthly things & wander in search of Him.

One can very easily make Him happy hence He is also called as Ashutosh (easy to please).

By any of nine forms of worship one can be follower.

Hope this satisfies your query.

Hi,

While worshipping shiva, you should be very clean and keep your home neat everyday. Just saying "Om Namashivaya porttri"is praying him. Just say his name. He will come to you and help you out . It is based on how the way you ask him.I am trying to know him, he is helping me out. But this is what i learnt. So just giving you some messages.God will make us learn by testing us and daily basis sometimes.Whatever, pray from your heart.Sure you will know the purity.
