Is it either fair or logical to say Christians (or people of other religious faiths) do not think for themselves or (as someone posted on another thread) don't use "as much of their brain" as an Athiest does?

Consider this, both Atheists and Believers have gone to school, many have gone to college, we work, have families, pay bills, have hobbies, friends, and talents. So in this regard we are all the same. However, believers are open to the spiritual which opens up a whole other portion of the mind. A portion in which the average Atheist doesnt use. Also, there isn't much debate between Atheists, it seems (and correct me if Im wrong) you all have a basic tenant of belief: There is no God, we die and go nowhere, life came to be by chance. Where as believers have thousands and thousands of beliefs that cause debates between them, isnt this more a sign of free thinking than settling on the basic Atheist tenants?

Please give me your ideas and corrections if needed.

I know the politically-correct crowd doesn't want us to solely say 'Happy Hanukkah' - they want us all to make sure we include everyone, especially Christians - but what's the big deal if we just restrict ourselves to 'Happy Hanukkah'? Why try to include everyone with 'Seasons Greetings'?
(the sarcastically-challenged need not reply)

I myself am agnostic not atheist. I do believe there is a higher power as for God or Allah or Buddah thats your decision to believe that it is a person or being. Anyways everytime someone religious comes around me they always try to tell me that Catholism or Bapist or Protesetant or even Buddahism is the correct way to believe and that everything is all better when you do. Honestly I just want to know why this is that almost every religion turns into a bible thumper even when they say that they arent pushing it. I help anyone out that I can regardless of race, religion, creed, nationality, or sexual orientation. I mean come on why is that everyone deems it neccesary to make a person feel they are worthless unless they belong to one organized religion?

I have found out that everybody has a well of knowledge within ourselves. How can I tap that WELL of knowledge from GOD within, since we are from GOD. Please think out this question with detail. I'm NOT looking for a quick off-the-cuff answer. This is a HEAVY seasoned question to ask..

First, please understand that I am asking this only because I would like to know, not because I want to offend somebody. Ok, now let me ask...
I know that Muslim people should pray five times a day at particular time. Do they really practice that in everyday's life? I mean, because of all the obligations we all have? Do they pray at school or work (if they live in a non-Muslim country)? What if they are on the street at the particular time? And what is going on in Muslim countries? I have seen photos of Muslim people praying in the street while everything stops - traffic, all the people... They are all on their knees and they all pray. On the other hand, I have been to some Muslim countries and I have never actually seen this. How come?
Please, keep in mind that I asked this question out of curiosity, nothing else.

Human Beings judge one another, it's normal. If you agree please answer, if not, go ahead and give me a thumbs down and cuss me out :)

If it was the Romans, then he didn't die for us at all, he was already going to be put to death. So it was like, "I'm going to die anyway, so I might as well say it is for all humanity for the prestige".

If he gathered a bunch of people than said I'm going to die for you, then maybe I'd be impressed.

Thoughts?

(Oh, and please do not use the God "allowed" him to die excuse).

Often when i am lying in bed at night alone i hear a noise from outside my window. Its a kind of popping sound as if someone is kicking a football. It could be wind hitting my covered air vent.My house is 56 years old.I often see things in the corner of my eye and i hear car doors shutting outside in the night when there was no cars about.I heard a very scary kinda squeaky scream kinda sound from right were i was sitting and i sometimes shiver and get this strange feeling and then i felt someone sit next to me.I am probably just imagining things but do you think i have ghosts or do you have any tips on how to find out if i ave?

Now we are approaching Christmas I'd like to become a Christian. However, there are two questions I need to resolve before I can do this.

Firstly, if God created the Universe and everything within it, where did he live before he created everything.

Secondly, who created God? Did he create himself?

Please, can some believer answer these questions so that I can become a believer myself.

what I don't understand is that a part of the definition of freethought implies that beliefs should be formed on science and logical principals. if beliefs should be formed on science and logical principals, then why is it called freethought?
is "freethought" stand as just a name of some sort of a religion or something, and not really free thinking?.

excuse me if the answer was too stupid or something .....I'm just 17 :) and I'd like to thank you for putting some effort in answering my question, because I may not have time to come back and chose a best answer.

I believe in God, and live a good life. I was watching a show on TV, where they change moms for a week. The lady on the show claimed to be a Christioan, and even taught Sunday School. When she arrived at her new location, she called the new dad a stoner, just because he had tatoos and peircings. My husband is from Africa, and he has peircings. Then she called the little boy a girl, just because he had long hair. Didn't Jesus have long hair?
