Think about it, what kind of people need constant praise? Insecure people....why? For reassurance. It's like a bodybuilder walking around and waiting for someone to say 'wow, you're strong'. The bodybuilder obviously knows this, so hoping for it and wanting it is more or less reassurance is it not?

If God is above insecurity and reassurance, why would God care if we praised God or not? If God does need praise and constantly needs it, doesn't that kind of make you afraid that the controller of all things is secretly insecure?

YIKES!!!!!

I just don't get this? Every one is born with Original Sin? I could never look at a child or baby and call it evil.
How does this work? Please explain.

Meaning what kind of struggle do you have with your religion that you would not have to go through had you had no religion at all?

Hypothetical situation - a man, who in his life was a good bloke, i dunno, maybe like a hindu monk etc. Anyway might have committed a couple of sins or something. He dies, and guess what - wakes up in hell (didn't believe in jesus, sorry mate you're f cked).

Anyways, in hell he's under unimaginable torment, he burns alive every second, his flesh searing in the lake of fire etc. etc. etc. He has burnt to a crisp a billion trillion times for every sin he ever commited and this is only the beginning.

He's screaming out for jesus to forgive him and save him, but god ignores him, quoting scripture and saying - you had you're chance mate when I died for you, didn't take it, now you pay the price etc.

Right, story over. Now I'm a bit confused - I read in the bible that Jesus told a story about a man dying at the side of the road. Now in the situation above (which is supposedly happens to all non believers when they die), is god like the pharisee, the levi or the samaritan?

It's unnatural--in the great big natural world of bears wolves and haqwks, where does one find gender? Male and female com into play only when the creatures are old enough to mate. Yet we dress our children up in bikinis and miniskirts all the time in a world full of sexual predators who have a taste for small children--normal people think it's cute, but pedophiles think it's sexy. If we all had a unisex dress code for children, with no clues as to what prebubescent bodily differentiations were hidden underneath, wouldn't that make our children safer? If their appearance said nothing more than "child" instead of Jon Benet? Why then does the bible insist that we have different clothes for different genders? "Thou shalt not wear clothes pertaining to the opposite sex," it says in deuteronomy, and any good christian parent is going to raise their child by that rule, dressing their babies up as barbies, in fashions that are no different than what adults wear.

what are your thoughts?

I mean, it's totally different from a parent-child relationship here. You say it's on the same level, how? My mom and dad aren't capable of creating anything they want nor do they encompass the ability to do whatever they want when they want due to human limitations. God is supposed to have no limitations, nor wants, needs, or desires, because God is everything, which renders the idea of needing kids to nurture and love superfluous.

Parents, humans if you will, are ingrained with the need and want to reproduce, which creates children. Also, parents don't enforce such 'absolute' rules with their children. They may say, 'hey, if you kill someone, society will put you in prison for life, but I'll still love you because you're my son"

God's punishment is like 'hey, you messed up because you didn't believe in me, but I knew that already since I know what you'll do before you do what you do, so you're going to hell to suffer forever and I'm not looking back at you ever'

WHAT?

There are many concepts about the afterlife. What do you think will happen after we die?

I am a Christian, and I believe that a person will either go to heaven or hell after he/she dies.

If that is true then freewill is uneven. Everyone should have the same opportunity to go to Heaven, but they don't. Education is never equally accessible.

do you agree or disagree that the statement
"do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
is all you need to live in a peaceful society.
If not, why dont we now live in a peaceful society?

Some idiot wanted to debate about God over personal emails. Did ya'll see that question here? Anyway, he says God is Krishna wanna debate it. And I told him something about getting struck by lightening and who the hell is Krishna. So I find it only fair to find out for myself before debating who I think God is. God IS.

In my office we have been forbidden from decorating our own desks at christmas this year, and would face disciplinary action for displaying anything like a nativity scene because we might offend other religons.
Pardon me, but isn't banning christian celebrations offensive too?
Can nobody else see this?

He mustve known adam and eve would sin in the garden of eden, right? So how is it justified to punish them? That's like putting a jar of sweets on the table and saying 'dont eat them' to something infinately less strong than yourself, e.g. a young child/a dog, KNOWING they'd eat one, then making them die because they ate one. (God made adam and eve mortal right? So in efeect he killed them.) No person can do that and be considered humane, so how can God?
