It's unnatural--in the great big natural world of bears wolves and haqwks, where does one find gender? Male and female com into play only when the creatures are old enough to mate. Yet we dress our children up in bikinis and miniskirts all the time in a world full of sexual predators who have a taste for small children--normal people think it's cute, but pedophiles think it's sexy. If we all had a unisex dress code for children, with no clues as to what prebubescent bodily differentiations were hidden underneath, wouldn't that make our children safer? If their appearance said nothing more than "child" instead of Jon Benet? Why then does the bible insist that we have different clothes for different genders? "Thou shalt not wear clothes pertaining to the opposite sex," it says in deuteronomy, and any good christian parent is going to raise their child by that rule, dressing their babies up as barbies, in fashions that are no different than what adults wear.
what are your thoughts?

j_papa123, children don't start out with anymore choices than to scream or not to scream, it is the parents duty to restrict choices that the child is not old enough to make for whatever reason

Well, I've been complaining for years about bikinis for toddlers. It's truly disgusting. In this day and age, wearing clothes pertaining to the opposite sex would really only apply to males wearing skirts/dresses & high heels, or possibly woman wearing a tie, but even that's considered pretty ok for women. It is a societal standard, and I think many people take that verse WAY out of context (There is also a verse in Deuteronomy that says eating shellfish is an abomination, but how many Christians eat shellfish?). I think that gender difference can still be emphasized while keeping children dressed modestly. Besides, it's proven (check Time magazine archives) that child molestors usually don't have a gender preference, unless they go after teens.

You're taking a bit too extreme of a view in my opinion. You can dress girls up like little girls WITHOUT have them look provocative or sleazy. Male and female come more into play into play than just later on in life. Children, for better or worse, base their identities partly on their gender, and to try a create a "sex"less children is ridiculous. Plus, you're assuming only female children are in danger of molestration, and that's simply not the case.

well we are either male of female you cant change that. but as for dressing your kids to look the way they do it the parents choice and i don't think that they are make the right ones. sometimes what we think is cute could be to grown up for our children. parents need to use discretion. and look at the way our singers and actors dress.and then there are the people who make the clothing they don't' make anything anymore that is decent for young children all are belly shirts, low rise pants and tops that show everything they have.Parents need to use common sense when dressing there kids.

First of all, God created man and woman. I don't think it will be safe for our boys to dress like a girl or girls dress like a boy because that will confuse the child the more. Pedophiles are just sick people here on earth and parents need to dress their children as children and not as an adult. Parents need to take control on how they dress their children that won't draw such attractions from child predators and sex offenders.

interior the previous testomony women human beings have been seen "chattel" or the valuables of the husband or father. Jesus further the point of the girl as much as equivalent with that of a guy. He did not carry guy right down to the point of the girl. through this, women human beings as we talk are equivalent and function each good as that of a guy. I truthfully have advice showing this yet can not hit upon it at this 2d...once I do i will edit my answer and supply it.

there will always be those who certainly will try to take advantage of a " little ones innocence. the best way to protect them is through education as to what to do in case of certain situations. then also quit having these little ones dress as miniature adults. children should be children.

this is a very interesting question....... yes it would make the children in todays world safer, but if we made all childrenm dress in the same unisex uniform we would take out the freedome of choice for them, yes its not a big one but it is choice and choice and freedom are very important for children to experience

First, god didnt create gender. Second, you have accepted Christian fear and guilt by wanting to make everyone look the same in the name of safety. If you want to protect your children, take them to martial arts classes and teach them to scream when strangers touch them.

first off, i wouldnt revolve my life & my kids (someday) around the pedofiles and the pervs of the world. 2nd, girls have different body parts than boys have. they need bras and boys need boxers. are u suggesting we just put a potato sack over everybody? is this in some way supposed to 'confuse' kids so they dont know what sex they truly are attracted to? i disagree with this idea
:::::little girls do wear training bras, its to help them know that their 'girls' i guess? i still disagree, oh and kids in preschool do get little puppy dog love crushes on other kids. ok i'm done :)

i do think little girls should look like little girls and boys look like boys
however i dont like to see little girls dressed up like models and being shown off like trophies by some parents
but this is perhaps as bad as saying that the person that is raped is to blame if her skirt is too short....
isnt the rapist to blame for the rape ? ... isnt society to blame for not helping rapists and seeing the problems before they arise ?
