Hypothetical situation - a man, who in his life was a good bloke, i dunno, maybe like a hindu monk etc. Anyway might have committed a couple of sins or something. He dies, and guess what - wakes up in hell (didn't believe in jesus, sorry mate you're f cked).

Anyways, in hell he's under unimaginable torment, he burns alive every second, his flesh searing in the lake of fire etc. etc. etc. He has burnt to a crisp a billion trillion times for every sin he ever commited and this is only the beginning.

He's screaming out for jesus to forgive him and save him, but god ignores him, quoting scripture and saying - you had you're chance mate when I died for you, didn't take it, now you pay the price etc.

Right, story over. Now I'm a bit confused - I read in the bible that Jesus told a story about a man dying at the side of the road. Now in the situation above (which is supposedly happens to all non believers when they die), is god like the pharisee, the levi or the samaritan?

I'm not saying its logical, of course i know that an eternal fiery hell where you burn up millions of times is completely illogical and that if god existed, he'd probably be disgusted by the idea of it.

However, many people believe this and I am just trying to raise an interesting point.

The pharisee and levi I would sadly relate to most modern Christians.

The samaritan is what they (and I) should be like alot more.

I do not believe this parable is about salvation as much as how to treat your fellow man.

The man dying is, say a muslim. Would most "righteous bible believing church going" CHristians help out? Probably not.

Jesus is saying lets be more like the samaratin, and help all, not just our own kind.

You can derive any interpretation you want, but the Bible is a book that says of itself "it is so simple that a fool could understand" so I try to look for the simplest answer.

God Bless, great question and have a peaceful evening.

Point #1
There does not exist a fiery hell.
It is so illogical!
Once you're burned up ....what's left?
It is impossible that being burned-up goes on forever.
God hates the idea Jeremiah 32:35
Point #2
God is like the samaritan ....He goes the extra 9 yards.
