Can a society support religious tolerance and freedom for all? Or must it ensure public conformity through laws that ensure outward religious signs (such as distinctive garb or religious symbols) are to be worn only in private areas?

Do we follow the French model? The ideals of the United States? Or some intermediate model?

To ensure a free society, do we draw the ironic conclusion that a pious, Islamic woman may no longer wear the veil in public?

To ensure a free society, do we dictate that any reference to God or a particular religion is barred from public venues?

man who refers to himself as a Pastor or a Preacher?
Then think they know every religion out there & pass judgement on it. They will be the first to tell you that your "faith" is wrong. Yet the "Fathers" of the catholic belief is what you hear so much of about molestation. Yet they can preach to others about sin. What gives them that right? Are you going to tell me that its OK because they did their 20 hail mary's & now forgiven... Or what about the Pastors that claim the Christian beliefs. They say mormons aren't Christian because they don't believe in the bible. Wrong again. That is their MAIN book. Not the Book Of Mormon. Mormons actually have a job outside of the church & monetarily provide for their families & serve the church for free. The other churches - nope i don't think so. The others get paid for their teachings. So they profit from the bible. Now how is that right? Mormons give to so many organizations, homeless, sick kids, abused women & don't ask to be recognized for it.

All 'christians' ignore Matthew 5:48:
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

True Christians (and they are extremely few in number) understand that the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) is the key to understanding Matthew 5:48. These are the people who live in accordance with the Word. They do not persecute or harass anyone. They are the ones who understand the need for humility.

All the others who call themselves 'christian' are misled by the words of Peter, Paul and the OT. Peter and Paul corrupted the Word by emphasizing grace (Paul mostly). Peter had denied Jesus, Paul was a self-appointed preacher after killing Christians. Neither could face the truth. They comforted themselves that because they did not attain perfection, no one could. This is arrogance, and has misled so many. To console themselves, they emphasized faith in grace, rather than the Sermon. They believed their only hope was forgiveness, not Matthew 5:48.

I like the NIV (New International Version) and the CEV (Contemporary English Version). I also enjoy the New King James Version. And I speak another language, so I read two different translations in that language too. And my dream is to learn Greek. Oh and Hebrew, but that is an extremely difficult language! Just imagine! Can you read Greek or Hebrew? Tell me about your favorite translations and why.. Thank you!

Ignorance of scripture allows critics to abash the word of God, and say it's full of contradictions. Example of one such propose contradiction is the 3 temptations of Christ by the devil in the wilderness: Matt 4:3, "...If thou be the son of God, command that THESE STONES be made bread". Luke 4:3,.."If thou be the son of God, command THIS STONE that it be made bread". In Luke the devil takes Christ up to a high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world. [luke 4:5]. In Matt it states.."AGAIN", the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain. [Matt. 4:8] The devil takes Christ to the holy city and sets Christ on a pinnacle of the temple in both Luke and Matt. Finally it states in Luke 4:13.." And when the devil had ended all of the temptations, he departed from Him for a SEASON". But in Matt 4:10-11..we read this.." Then saith Jesus unto him..get thee hence, Satan......."
-"THEN the devil leaveth HIM, and behold the angels came and ministered unto Him".

When muslims conquer people, they are not allowed to touch the old, the weak, and the women. Yet, when the Romans, British, etc.. invaded lands they killed off 3/4 of the population, raped any girl, and yet u call our tactics brutish? So u become a dhmimi, a second class citizen, whats worth more? A small tax or YOUR LIFE? We do not force you to convert, but it benefits so many did, WE DID NOT FORCE. It was the Turks who forced some people to convert to be in their Janissares

So before you accuse us of "pay jizat, convert, or die" this is untrue. And dont compare us with the filth of Europe during the Dark Ages. You were brutish, enslaving the populace, killing them, and raping them... SO DO NOT COMPARE!

and...Baaad Dokhtar-Muslim factions killing each other, caused by death squads killing other poor Muslims sent by Pasdaran. You speak so two-faced in peace. Don't get me wrong, but all of your questions seem to have a "Americans will be divided and hate each other by my question" connotation.-readers please check it out. I guess you're right Americans are less intelligent than Iranis-typical mindset-but we're too stupid to know it. I was thinking of a flight from Tinian to Tehran in a couple of months, want to meet me there to discuss this?

They are not the ones we are fighting, it is the extremists who are filled with anger and hatred. Why must people look for foolish excuses to hate those who would be our allies? People condemn them for not speaking out against terrorism, yet would you do so if it cost you your life? These people are trying to help, a march for peace in washington a few months back was organized for muslims. They are protesting against the horrors in this world, but you have closed your ears to them. People condemn the Qu'ran because it contains passages of violence, yet can anyone deny that in the Bible Moses ordered the families of those worshipping idols to be murdered? Most religions contain such things, but they also contain truth. The Islamic religion teaches humility and love, the true practicers of Islam accept the prophets of Christianity and Judaism as also being true. Why hate, when there is the possibility of peace?

My daughter was gifted a beginners bible recently and what I am reading is abit hilarious. According to this book God basically gave orders to up sticks and move country to his 'followers' at the drop of a hat, they all had servants and life appeared very easy. And just how DID all the people in the world come from two people - there are laws against inbreeding these days aren't there???It cleared up the bit about everyone being different colours and languages - what a joke to play on your followers though to change it overnight - hadn't he heard of the naughty step - you know....if you don't build me that ark Noah I'll count to 3 and you'll sit in a timeout.....!?? PLEASE!!!!!

This was asserted by Richard Dawkins on the Skeptical Inquirer podcast this week. I'm ignorant of the Quran on this point. Can Muslims enlighten me, and if he's incorrect (perhaps this part is an unfair question), do you know where in the Quran he might have gotten that idea?
