Ignorance of scripture allows critics to abash the word of God, and say it's full of contradictions. Example of one such propose contradiction is the 3 temptations of Christ by the devil in the wilderness: Matt 4:3, "...If thou be the son of God, command that THESE STONES be made bread". Luke 4:3,.."If thou be the son of God, command THIS STONE that it be made bread". In Luke the devil takes Christ up to a high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world. [luke 4:5]. In Matt it states.."AGAIN", the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain. [Matt. 4:8] The devil takes Christ to the holy city and sets Christ on a pinnacle of the temple in both Luke and Matt. Finally it states in Luke 4:13.." And when the devil had ended all of the temptations, he departed from Him for a SEASON". But in Matt 4:10-11..we read this.." Then saith Jesus unto him..get thee hence, Satan......."
-"THEN the devil leaveth HIM, and behold the angels came and ministered unto Him".

I honestly believe Christ was tempted a lot more then just 3 or 6 times, but only the ones listed made it into the modern bible. It doesn’t make since to list them all. The ones that are listed are for personal example. It helps us to relate since we will all face temptation.

Good Lord. I cant believe you even had to explain this to someone. Look guys. Jesus died for your sins. He wants to hang out with you and eventually restore us back to our original selves, eternal life and everything. We are going to heaven. Do you want to come? Then believe on and in Jesus and his finished work on the cross. It's not rocket science, it is the basic need for us to want to be with our creator. Jesus was tempted by Satan and he rebuked him with sctripture. At least Satan allowed him to use scripture. Most people in Yahoo Answers ask us not to quote the Bible. The Bible is the ONLY answer that matters. Sorry for the rant but that was really fun! Great Question.
May GOD richly bless you all anyway.

it depends, the authors may be recording the same event and therefore it remains three. Matthew and Luke are closely linked in their writings. this passage does not prove that the bible doesn't have contradictions, however we know that the bible doesn't because god cannot contradict himself. when people think they see a contradiction they need to go research, because they are mistaken.

on a similar time as humanity accepts the undeniable fact that all of us gets previous and dies, this is the bit approximately dealing with judgement that sticks of their throats. while will they settle for the undeniable fact that they are going to ought to stand the Lord after dying? nicely, if the Holy Spirit is working of their lives, they are going to realize this formerly this is too previous due. in the event that they reject God, Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit then they are going to discover out on that very final day of reckoning. Tragically, it somewhat is going to be too previous due as a results of fact the time to declare "sure!" to God's invitation to come again to him is NOW - on a similar time as we nevertheless can. P.S. with regard to the remark that the Gentile circumstances led to 1914, and the JW perception that Armageddon will take place interior of a hundred and twenty years from 1914 (2034); could I factor out that my father and mom have been advised by way of the Governing physique of JW's (in the mid 1930's) that the era that observed with eyes of understand-how the events of 1914 may be the era that observed Armageddon and the ushering in of a sparkling international order. They died upset. could I additionally factor out that i develop into advised Armageddon develop into due circa 1975. as a results of fact the society is understanding of time, it has now presented so-talked approximately as "new easy" on the project to enhance the time shrink (and that i take advantage of that factor era intentionally) to a destiny time. All those products a pair of lifespan being a hundred and twenty years is the muse for this new interpretation.

It's important to note that Christ refuted Satan not by his own word but by the Word of God, the scripture. It shows us that the true situation is one of Satan against God, not us as individuals, which is a contest we cannot win.

I agree that you take the scripture too literally.....the point being that Jesus was tempted by Satan and therefore we can see the human side of Him and know that he can relate to us and our temptations on a human level.

wrong it was only 3 times told by 3 different people But I do believe that he was tempted more than 3 times. He went through every temptation that we went through and yet he prevailed

does it matter whether it was 3 or 6? The main thing is Christ was also tempted by Satan, but he refuted Satan each time.

I think the greatest temptation of Christ was when he resisted calling down angels to destroy everything while he hung on the cross.

You'd think if he did make bread from rocks they'd be really hard to eat.
Sounds like your right but I don't read the Bible so I weren't really know.
