Out of all of the world religions -- Hinduism, Islam, Bahai, Satanism, Wiccan, Judaism, Buddhism, Catholicism, Mormonism, New Age, etc. -- and all of the religious books of the world -- the Bible, the Koran, the book of Vishnu, Egyptian Book of the Dead, etc. -- and all of the gods/Gods of those religions -- Confuscious, Jehovah, Allah, Seth, Buddha, etc. -- Why does Jesus merit such hostile commentary and criticism? Why does the Bible receive such scrutiny, challenge and resistance? Why does Christianity receive such angry focus and disdain from so many different sources for many centuries? Personally, I believe it's the Football Principle: a lot of contact on the field during the game (speaking of religion in general), but it's the one with the ball who gets the most attention and resistance. What do you think?

I have nothing against anyone because of their religion. But does it bother the decent people who don't believe in God that there are so many who are hateful against christians. I ask because it bothers me as a christian that so many judge non-christians simply for their religion. I just see alot of questions here where people say things like "Why do you christians murder and kill....etc" What an odd statement. Then I see christians say that athiests are evil blah blah... so are decent athiests as bothered by this as decent christians?

If we know that the creation had a beginning and we know that the beginning was caused, there is one last question for us to answer--what was the cause? The Bible tells us that God was the cause. We are further told that the God who did the causing did so with planning and reason and logic. Romans 1:20 tells us that we can know God "through the things he has made." The atheist, on the other hand, will try to convince us that we are the product of chance. Julian Huxley once said: "We are as much a product of blind forces as is the falling of a stone to earth or the ebb and flow of the tides. We have just happened, and man was made flesh by a long series of singularly beneficial accidents"

So, were we created, ord did we just happed?

Listen I have debated many christians throughout my lifetime and bearly any of them have come up with any strong arguments to back their faith. The only thing they are capable of doing is quoting bible verses to defend their faith as well as the bible itself. There are contradictions in the bible--many of them. If you have read the bible you will realize this if you are not blind to the truth. When I hear some geeked out little christian fag telling me that I am going to burn in hell if I dont believe the way he does I wanna smash his head open and then wipe my *** with the bible. Believing in something out of the fear of the consequences of not believing is no reason to believe. Quit quoting bible verses to try to indoctrinate people who dont believe in the bible itself. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers and he also said I have not come to bring peace but a sword. Contradiction?

Just was reading the answers to the question I asked half hour or so ago.

One answer from someone who Christian, (I'm an atheist agnostic type) really impressed me.

Anyhow, this doesn't happen a lot lately. Mostly I just got bad responses telling me I'm going to hell or an equivalent to "you need to read the bible" junk.

My question for the regulars is, do you still get that - once or twice a day, an answer from someone different from you that is thoughtful, and provoking, and makes our little journey into cyberspace fun? While this is "entertainment", the appeal for me is the intellectual fun and exchange of ideas. Lately most of us I think feel its been suffering. I feel there is hope.

Maybe I'm too "geeky" or whatever, I just dig stuff that makes me think is all.

thanks

1. The Miller Experiment that suggested that amino acids could have formed in the early atmosphere was completely flawed. Current data indicates that formaldehyde and cyanide would have formed and been antithetic to life.

2. Darwin's tree of life is impossible in light of the Cambrian explosion (the biological big bang), where many of the major animal phyla came into existence "suddenly". Punctuated equilibrium is the straw man "hypothesis" for this event, not natural selection.

3. Haechel's Embryos which suggest that all phyla look alke when first developing suggesting common anchestors are known to be faked and misleading (Stephen Jay Gould said that this was "The academic equivalent of murder").

4. The Archaeopteryx missing link from reptiles to birds is now known to be an extinct group of bird. No transitional forms have been found to date in all the millions of fossils, none!

Facts are that people who believe in macro evolution, believe in a mythical theory.

I do not mean to offensive in asking this question, so here goes:

Lets say our example is called Mr X. Mr X lives a good life, always helping others, being very charitable, gentle, good-humoured and supportive. He has a wealth of friends and has good standing in the community. A genuinely great person.

HOWEVER, he never acknowledges Jesus. Religion simply does not figure in his way of life, although he is loved by everyone for being truly selfless (exhibiting many traditional Christian traits without actually being one.

So will he go to hell upon his death despite his good life?

Thank you for all informed, fair answers!

Does God say in The Bible, The Koran, The Torrah, etc... that this is the only true book written about him or does he say (according to these books written by man) there is only one God? Do people get high and mighty and think he means only one religion is that it?

Do you read the Old Testament or only the New?

The inspiration for the question was a conversation we were having at a church Alpha session the other night. We were talking about a popular Christian movie that includes scenes that aren't Biblical, but someone has implied that the entire movie was included in the Bible. This person was either mis-speaking or had simly assumed that what was in the movie was also in the Bible, and those scenes were not.

I read mine regularly for a few months, and then I take a few months off to usually read entertainment or Christian-ish related books (Don Miller, Rob Bell etc…)

As usual, if you're not a Christian, I don't need to hear from you. I don't need to hear that you don't believe what I do. You're only wasting your time and proving that you don't follow direction well.

In referance to the killings at the Amish school house in Penn.

Sam Stoltzfus, 63, an Amish woodworker who lives a few miles away from the shooting scene, said the victims' families will be sustained by their faith.

"We think it was God's plan and we're going to have to pick up the pieces and keep going," he said. "A funeral to us is a much more important thing than the day of birth because we believe in the hereafter. The children are better off than their survivors."

No God of love would punish anyone forever in the most cruel and inhumane of ways such as burning a person in a lake of fire and brimstone throughout eternity. I dont think a person as evil as Hitler or Binladen has done anything bad enough to warrant eternal punishment. Do all muslims and buddhists go to hell just for sharing a different belief system. How about severly retarded people or sociopaths or people who are incapable of comprehending Christ? I just love the Christians who try to threaten me into believing in Christ by saying I will burn in hell if I dont. How could I love a God like that anyways?
