...when if there really was just "Adam & Eve" that in order for mankind to have come from them, there would have to have been serious incest for several generations. It would seem that not only is this morally wrong, that the birth defects would have been so widespread that we would have never made it this far. Also, this is not a blow at Christianity, religion or creationism at all, I've just always wondered this, and don't want to feel stupid asking it in a normal discussion as there's got to be a straightforward answer right? otherwise it just seems ludacris...

Creationism is the idea that everything suddenly popped into being.

Sounds like an extreme logical extension of the theory of punctuated equilibria to me. Except that it implies only one punctuating equilibrium.

For those who don't have an evolutionary biology background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuated_equilibrium)

This has been a question I have asked myself over and over, why is the christian deity, a male one? Why does it even have a gender?
My youth pastor said he made adam in his own image, correct?
But could not this image been an image for a final project? Like when you want to paint something, you have an image of what the final product should look like.

Why was the christian god's product reflect a gender onto it's creator?

Therefore, the prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the follower of Christ, as the messenger of God. Order life in accordance with the dictates of the Quran - the Divine book revealed to the world through him. That, and that alone, is the path to eternal salvation.

I just asked this question in a different way and it was completely misunderstood by all the believers who answered it...

If you believe in the existence of God, and are a curious, rational person wouldn't you be more interested not in what God wants you to do, or what Jesus or Muhammad did etc but in the biggest questions of all?

Who or what is God?
Where did he come from?
How is he constituted?
How did he come into being?
Who or what created him?
If he wasn't created how can he just be?
Why did he create the universe?
WHY does he want us to do these things that he wants us to do?

BIG questions. Big scientific questions. Not just "should I keep the sabbath" or "is homosexuality wrong"...

Why are you all just talking about WHAT God wants you to do?

Why would a 3 week old baby need to be raped by two men in a small African town because they believe having sex with a virgin cures AIDS?

Please, I welcome the justifications for the suffering of that infant, and the suffering of the baby girl's mother who had to find her....

A Jehovas Witness came to my door the other day and asked the same question. I thought I'd share this with you and see what kind of arguement I start!!!!! :P

I, personally, think that there is nothing scientific about God. For science to prevail, there has to be enough solid, unquestionable evidence to prove a theory, and there is, in my opinion, not enough for either theory. Any one think otherwise?
