I don't know enough to adequately answer the question but I'm going to do some reading on punctuated equilibrium because you've piqued my interest with the question. TY.

Creationism and punctuated equilibrium have nothing in common.
Creationism says that Genesis is a literal description of the creation of the universe, the world, and humans. Creationism is based on faith and faith alone.
Punctuated equilibrium fits within the framework of evolutionary theory. It's just an alternative to a purely gradualistic view of evolution, and it's based on sound scientific methodology.
So there's no relationship at all.

Creationism is the attempt to render Genesis acceptable to an educated populace. It is a complete rejection of the big bang.
Creationism has nothing to do with evolution, evolution addresses species development, it does not deal with the origin of life.

I don't see how punctuated equilibrium can possibly work. How about considering creation being a fact of science. This would answer a lot of questions.

Well no that doesn't work because creationism supposes that as you say "everything" popped into being. No one knows how the universe started, but once it started, it's pretty clear that physical forces alone accounted for the rest.

Kind of...
Creationism is a desperate attempt by religions to bring God back into the picture as science continues to add proof to natural evolution.
