My greatest desire is the betterment of my soul and that of those around me, to be good to my fellow person. Feed the sick, shelter the homeless, care for the orphan and widow, feed the imprisioned and most of all give hope to those who need and want it. I dont sound that scary but all my friends that are atheist seem to be so afraid of my faith. In an appendix to the question it should be known that as most of the responses are invariably to be what they are it would be great if they were thoughtfull and honest and not just a knee-jerk response I have no agenda here just unabashidly inquizative. Best of Luck to all.

Why do they do this when they let their god damn kids run all over, swearing, smoking cigarettes, and swearing like god damn sailors. They should be more worried about disciplining these god damn bastard kids. What is wrong with these god damn people?

A Quick Study on the Tithe

A portion of one’s earnings, one tenth, that are given to those who perform the work of the Lord since it belongs to the Lord, Leviticus 27:32 ‘And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.”
Also, the law of Moses required a double tithe (20%) every third year! Deuteronomy 14:28 “At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates.”
*What happened to the law of Moses for Christians when Jesus died on the cross?
“Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby,” Ephesians 2:15-16.
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross,” Colossians 2:13-14.
*New Testament Giving is NOT of necessity (required)!
2Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." Did you notice that Christians give from what purposes that God has placed there by the Holy Spirit?

In 1838, Joseph Smith had a difficult time getting money out of his first converts. His church had been going for eight years and he could not get his members to donate enough money to keep his church alive. Smith knew that the previous law of consecration and of property was a failure. The solution was to be come to be known as the revelation of the "Law of Tithing." This new law forced his members into giving 10% of the their income. Smith’s revelation on tithing had warned Mormons, "And I say unto you, if my people observe not this law ...behold, verily I say unto you, it shall not be a land of Zion unto you." Everybody must tithe or God will not let Zion be established! Other LDS leaders declared that individual LDS members who do not pay tithe risk their communication with God. Elder John A. Widtsoe stated about paying your LDS tithing: "The tithe-payer establishes communion with God," (Deseret News, 16 May 1936, Church section, 5).

*The early Mormon converts found it hard to give even 10% to Joseph Smith because they did not believe it their hearts and the Holy Ghost was not there!!!

Those Mormon converts were not very spiritual. They had supposedly prayed about the Book of Mormon and the “Holy Ghost” had told them it was true. However, the fact that Joseph Smith needed to force them to 10% by re-instituting tithing shows that these Mormon converts did not have the Holy Ghost to motivate them in giving or in reading the Book or Mormon! How could they know the Book of Mormon was true if they did not have the Holy Ghost!!!

*The law of tithing was a curse, but Jesus redeemed us from that curse!
Galatians 3:10 - For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Galatians 3:13 - Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree..."

*Why do Mormons want to go back under that curse of the law?
Titus 3:4-5 "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost."
Generous giving is a very loving thing to do. Paul was inspired by God's Holy Spirit to declare that "God LOVES a cheerful giver" (2Corinthians 9:7). Cheerfully giving from the heart is a virtue.

,,,caring for my soul? Why do you try to place yourself between me and what I believe? Is it the lack of a label. If I spoke of "God" instead of "Love" would you feel better? If we can say "God is Love", then why can we not say "Love is God"?

is it from your family tradition? national practice? personal experience? I want to know why people think jesus will come fix everything for them? cause he won't I would like to know why people think their religion/God is better? why they go to war and kill each other if they're pretending their "God" is peaceful? the only one God is the creator of the universe. these beings that started these religions are not gods. they have no power to judge you or tell you what to do. and yes your spirit is your soul and you do continue on after death. I wish this planet would stop being divided and sacrificed to the worship of these demagogues - jehovah, jesus, allah, buddhism, vishnu. human beings should own their reality and their power to make their own lives. they should be focused on education and economic well being and stop wasting their intellects on these cults. when you pass you will realize I'm right. while you're here try to remember your own sanctity.

it appears to me that most christians in this Q & A, think that all christians practice sin,to practice sin means to sin on a regular basis thinking God is such a merciful he will never send me to hell. the bible Clearly says that GOD will not be mocked, whatever a man soweth that shall he reap.

Now in some cases christians make mistakes and there are flaws in there character, and maybe slip and do something wrong, but that dont mean falling in to the bed of fornication or lying,or always cheating,or which is practicing sin.

I understand you being bothered or mad if someone is trying to push their religion on you. (I don’t like when someone does it to me.) But why would you do that? Even if you are the happiest person on the planet, why do so many people feel compelled to decide how I and other should live their lives?

Why is there a whole section in yahoo on religion? Again, even if you are happy about your religion why do you feel compelled to go out in a public forum and type words on a computer?

I am all for you being happy, but please, do you REALLY need to be posting your religious beliefs on a website? (That also goes for the non believers, why would you push your views?)

Most don't like to address certain issues. Or they will just address it and that is all. No action or even true thought for the effort for one's self to make a change. They will just debate as if that will solve anything. Change takes action. Society functions with the philosophy of "follow the leader". Would you become that leader and make a change with yourself first? Then that train of thought will be the admired by the next man to the next man and so on. Till righteousness reigns supreme. Mankind is the problem. Mankind should be the solution.

A lot of whiny xtians seem to be crying about people "bashing" their beliefs and, by extension, them personally...so a lot of you must be really picking on them big time! How do you usually do it? Do you call them names or just contradict their ideas with logic and common sense? Or perhaps its you atheists who just post non-questions and give sermons? Or are they just overly sensitive? Pray to god for the strength to overcome this blatant abuse!
