Do you want to come and watch it with me as I'm scared on my own?

Sorry but I found it very amusing, not in the least bit scary. To be taken with a pinch of salt!

"Stigmata" is pretty messed up. Throughout history, the very few who have received the stigmata have been incredibly faithful people. In the movie, this regular ol' gal receives the stigmata, the "spirit world" or something having sort of confused her with a Christian monk who was translating an ancient text that supposedly would bring Christendom tumbling down once made public.

The text in question--if it were real--would not bring Christendom tumbling down, and so that whole premise is hype for hype's sake.

Moreover, the "spirit world" or whatever it is most likely wouldn't confuse a Christian monk and a regular ol' gal.

It was just ridiculous, the whole thing. It thought it was being all revolutionary and risque, but I just found it to be boring. The text in question said something to the effect that Jesus could be found in nature--"split a rock and I am there" or some such. Um, okay, that's fine: How is this going to destroy Christendom? Supposedly it was "proof" that people don't need what is called organized religion.

And of course the Vatican was portrayed as evil.

Pretty standard fare.

Whatever.

yes i will go with you ill bring popcorn/ i have seen the real thing/ by the way-------actual manifestations of the wounds of christ----felt weird, you get that feeling when the supernormal or paranormal is actually present---feels like ants with electrodes on their feet walking all over your back and neck-----ofcourse most of the time i would say a good 89% are faked, just the truly religious self injuring, however there were a few times. i think were genuine-----------(there usually is a smell like roses when it is.)

It's actually not that scary. I watched it with my 11 year old sister a few months ago, and she didn't think it was either.

You know I already saw it. It was kind of artsy. Not to bad. It had a good message, of course one that the Catholic Church won't like...because it provokes you into asking questions, which your not supposed to do. It wasn't any more gory than "The Passion of the Christ".
