I understand you being bothered or mad if someone is trying to push their religion on you. (I don’t like when someone does it to me.) But why would you do that? Even if you are the happiest person on the planet, why do so many people feel compelled to decide how I and other should live their lives?
Why is there a whole section in yahoo on religion? Again, even if you are happy about your religion why do you feel compelled to go out in a public forum and type words on a computer?
I am all for you being happy, but please, do you REALLY need to be posting your religious beliefs on a website? (That also goes for the non believers, why would you push your views?)

Ok it appears that most are missing the point. It is great that you are happy. Why do you think you need to tell me where I should go?

Most religions tell followers to "spread the word" to everyone. So, I supposed they're just following orders.

Somebody told me the other day that there will no dogs in heaven, and when I told them then I wasn't going if my dog couldn't be there with me.I wasn't being facetious only truthful. I thought they were going to have a stroke.
I am agnostic so I simply laughed and closed my door. Well they plastered their little booklets all over my front door and my mail box, there must have been 20 or more of the little booklets.I cant believe these people who profess to be so religious would do something so petty.
I think Yahoo is trying to keep all the religious folks in one area so they don't get upset by some of the things they may see on other sections of Answers.
I know that the bible tells believers to be recruiters for god so that's one reason they want to make you into their image.Normally it doesn't bother me,I never ask or tell people what or who to believe in ,but I prefer to be left to my own thinking and not be the subject of religious brain washing. If your faith compels you to do that I'm sorry .I feel its an intrusion into my life and Id never do that to another .

People who don't want to read about religion don't have to...don't go there, right??? Thankfully, we still have the freedom to discuss religion on the Internet, in the streets and in our churches and homes. Freedom, one of the most wonderful things about America. Start taking away Freedoms and you can bet all Freedoms will be challenged.
On the other hand, sure, I don't like when people push religion.
I am a Christian and I am very careful about what I say. I think the truest example, witness-which is what Christians are called to do-is live your life as an example. That's the best witness. Also, Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship.
I know the type of people you're talking about though. I think most of those folks really need to grasp what it is they're attempting to SHOVE down the throats of people they come in contact with. Just ask them nicely to please keep their comments to themselves. You may see an even uglier side of them...eek!

Most religions have similar basic beliefs so spreading love and saving lives by preaching and teaching and setting examples is the main goal . It is a commandment of Gods that this be done in his name in order to receive everlasting life through his son Jesus Christ who he placed on earth as an example and a sacrifice for all mankind, his main purpose was to glorify his fathers Gods heavenly kingdom gather believers who would follow him to that kingdom. (Peter 5.2). Some people are more zealous that others though and forget that God also allows us to choose our own path . We have that right and it should be respected.

It's because they think they're right and it's this perfect way to live. So they want to "spread the word of god" to try and make everyone happy, but all it really does it just anger people. Like you and me. Also they want some people to discuss religion with, because they think that if your not in the religion you have no right to talk about it.
Think of it like, you hear a good song. You want to share that song with people, so that they'll listen to it and be happy. Then you can talk to them about it and keep sharing it. Only difference is that Christians are just trying to give you their way of life, even though masses of people hate their way of life.

People that are happy usually don't bother you it's the ones that are insecure about their beliefs that try to convince other people so they think that they are not making a mistake that goes for both believers and non-believers.Me my self I am a non-believer but I don't impose my thoughts on any one unless of course they start trying to change my views then I try to prove them wrong or at least make them doubt themselves that way they leave me alone. But yeah it's mostly insecure people.

For more than 90% it is because they feel inadequate in their beliefs and must justify their beliefs by compelling others to believe the same way. Basically it's just a "high school" emotional insecurity.

People have questions on religion or whatnot, so they want to find a religious perspective here, relatively anonymously. Unfortunately, much to your and my dismay, there are many on here that simply seek to convert as many as they can, thinking that buiys them a space in their "heaven". They need something to brag about when they pompousaly trunble up to the front pew of church in their glamoury.
non-believers, and believers, and in-betweens alike, a few of us are out here to share a different perspective with our answers, regardless of whether we share the same spiritualism the inquirer has.
Oddly enough... it is easy to answer a question without wearing your religious affiliation on your sleeve... too bad so many fail at that concept.

Posting your beliefs on a website doesn't necessarily mean "pushing your views on anyone"... People post their views to inform other people of how and why they view certain things a certain way.
