If god is all powerful, why does he need financial backing from mere mortals in order to build churches, broadcast his word on TV and print neat little flyer that homeless people handout?

Ha that is cute... Money is the root of all evil and so is greed.
I agree with greg, the bible specifically says that God does not dwell in temples made with hands and that he is a spirit who dwels in our hearts...If we let him.
But it also says that "freely ye have recieved freely Give" in almost every religion there is benefit and merrit or"good Karma to ppl who are generous and with hold not from those that have a need,
Its your money and if you don't feel its a "need" dont give it.
But do remember the principal--He that withholdeth tendeth to poverty! That includes spiritual and emotional poverty as well...Believe it or not Money is not the Most Important thing in life!!!

Jesus is not asking you for money. People ask for money. People need financial backing from other people in order to build churches, broadcasts on TV and all the other stuff. God created a beautiful world but people ruined it. However, there is other people who help the homeless and the sick and fortunately they are still doing it.

He doesn't need your money. There is the story of Hattie May waitt. a poor girl in the eighteen hundreds who bought a new church when she died by saving 57 cents. it is an offering, he isn't begging, it is more like a gift from you to God.

ok lesson time... God owns it all any how.. but He gives to us humans authority over all of it.. the 10% You keep hearing about is a standard that was to be given to support the church in its work of helping widows orphans and disabled. also to support its pastors / preachers/ etc... i found in my own life ... more so recently since iv very little anyhow .. that my giving does in fact show my obediance and brings me blessings like never before seen by myself or my people... prime example... i just got given to me a brand new double wide home set up and all including porches heat n air etc ... all instilation too.. free.. God blesses those who bless him... He ever said in the bible ... try me in this concerniong the tithes... thats God almighty saying ... check it out for yourself and see im for real on this ... bring me mine and see how i multiply it and give it back to you as blessings

He isn't. Re-read your Bible. Jesus says, "do not build a temple before me". Churches are there to make money, and keep the masses in tow.

The Reason He is asking you for more money is so that you can finance the Kingdom Of God and you can allow More people to Hear the Gospel.

Pardon the pun, but it's a necessary evil. You can't do anything in society with out money. But I agree that some churches and televangelists go overboard.

You know in most other languages that question wouldn't work because the verb for salvation and saving money are usually two different words.
It's a funny play on the english language, but I think you know very well that it's not really relevant.

Deuteronomy 14:22 - "You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year." We are commanded to tithe a portion of all of our earnings by GOD!!!
