Do you find its easier to blame war on religion this way? this is seriously what i think, because so many people blame ALL wars on christianity or religion. (even though pol pot the atheist killed more people in one war than 2000 years of christianity) And do any atheists believe in supporting a war that is inevitable? by that i mean, muslims hate christians and obviously they hate america for that. they want to kill the 'infedel' even though christians DO NOT want to fight with islamic (extremists). So what do you think? NO NEED TO BE HOSTILE OR RUDE, THX :)

For many today, the study of history is incorporated with the ideas that there is no God, miracles are not possible, we live in a closed system and there is no supernatural. With these presuppositions they begin their "critical, open and honest" investigation of history. When they study the life of Christ and read about His miracles or resurrection, they conclude that it was not a miracle or a resurrection because we know (not historically, but philosophically) that there is no God, we live in a closed system, miracles are not possible and there is no supernatural. Therefore, these things cannot be. What men have done is to rule out the resurrection of Christ even before they start an historical investigation of the resurrection. These presuppositions are not so much historical biases but, rather, philosophical prejudices.

This pretty much sums up my opinion about how the Bible and anything related to Christianity is handled.

Why did religion and the concept of God get such popularity among human beings?

From the days of cavemen religion has played a big part of humanity.

Is it because of any/some/all of the following or something entirely different?

1) Man needed hope. The concept of God looking after us is a big hope isn't it?

2) Man is afraid of death. So, if there was no God, there would be no heaven. If there is no heaven then that means there is no after-life.

3) A tool to control society. i.e. what Da Vinci code proposes. Religion was created to control a group of people.

4) There was actually a son of God who taught his followers to love. i.e. The story of Jesus is indeed mostly true.

I personally think it is because humans fear death and they needed a concept of God to battle the inevitability of death.

What do you think?

I'm 16 and I know I believe in God..and I really don't want to believe anything else but like right now I feel so shaky. There's just so many religions out there and so many different lifestyles...different gods/goddesses and such...I mean why Christianity? Why is it like everywhere I go ppl hate/denounce Christians? Even in my fav. bookstores I see stuff and I'm like..what the heck? I sound so immature because I will admit, when it comes religion, I sort of am. Plz don't yell at me lol I'm so confused about everything...and I'm so confused about heaven, but that's another story... someone talk to me please?

Please be rational to explain it.
I just came across religious people talking "science" and their faith.
for example: cause of tumor and diease, cause of bad luck, cause of human disaster and etc.

If Islam is the true religion, then how does Muslims spread the news to the Kafirs, Infidels and unbelievers? I haven't really seen any activity from the Muslim community which suggest this. Unless you are born into a Muslim family then you will know of the religion otherwise you are really condemned. Is there any part of the Quran which commands Muslims to tell of the message in the Quran?

Most of what I know is very contrary, that you should 'fight' against the Kafirs, Infidels and Unbelievers.

I've been reading a lot of hatred in here & I'm wondering why? There are folks here that actually quote the bible (as an example) then proceed to tell how god is love & attack other folks in the same breath.
I love reading the information on here & don't understand the insecurity of some people who claim to be religious. If you had true faith in the religion you practise why would there be such a need to be defensive? Isn't the most important thing to have faith ....period.
