There is a physical death and a spiritual death.
Everyone will experience a physical death. Not everyone will experience a spiritual death. Otherwise known as the second death.
Many people living physically are the walking dead. Zombies, Vampires. Maybe not in the hollywood sense. If you ever want to see a zombie look at a junkie laying down in the street. He is spiritually dead. Vampires are people who try to drain your energy. Take all your soul away, because they are dead inside. They care not to do what is necessary to find their own source of life (the truest source of life, Jesus Christ). They prefer to suck you dry.
I've gone off kilter and probably sound crazy, but you may see what I mean if you pay attention.
Those who experience the second death will be eternally cut off from God. God is love. To be eternally cut off from God they will be eternally cut off from love. They will not know peace. They will instead be faced to face with all their imperfections and sin. Forever to analyze these things over and over as they gnash their teeth. Until eventually they are thrown into the lake of fire and burned for all eternity. Make no mistake, the fire is for the purification. Yet, if you are eternally cut off from God you will never come out of the fire. You will instead burn with all the rest. What is this like? I can't even imagine. Yet I can tell you. The path to heaven, hell, and purgatory starts right now. I walked down those steps getting rather close to hell. I felt the fire. The darkness tried to swallow me. Luckily before if could I called out to the light (Jesus) and he didn't let me fall under. He very quickly pulled me up, and then let me fall. Then he very slowly allowed me to grow. Which I hope to continue to do. How did I get there you say? Well, drugs played a major part of it. Many times I have been feeling the fire burn me gnashing my teeth. I can't imagine an entire lifetime of that let alone an eternity.
Beyond all that, I say: Throughout the course of history, the only person who really could say that was Jesus Christ. So, aside from his account we don't really know now do we?

yes there is an afterlife. every religion believes in one albeit they have different ideas of what is there. Some people who have had the near death experiences may be able to tell you a little about what they saw during the time they were dead. Also i can't remember the guys name there was that guy that was struck by lightning and was presumed dead and sent to the morgue and came back to life in the morgue. He wrote a whole book about it. Saved by the light or something like that. I can't remember exactly he probably has some insight into what its like to be dead.

Religiously speaking: Yes, we all should be going to heaven (or hell, depends).
Atheist(ly) speaking: We don't believe in God, thus no heaven or hell exists for us and so no life after death.
Intellectually speaking: We do not know for sure.
Biologically speaking: There is no life once your brain and heart are dead.
Now about dead person's life, I am going to search in “google” to find a person who is dead but can still talk about his experience after death. As soon as I come to know, I will contact you and give you his/her address.

Life is like cloud in the skies.
It vanishes and reappears again
in another pattern with different
constituents.
This is equally true of one's body and soul.
The universal energy is always in circulation
and it immaterial what you believe or not.
God differentiates nothing. The Law of Nature
is pre-set. Whatever is, is.
Truth cannot be communicated.
It has to be experienced.
And it is of no use learning dead thoughts.
Please observe and learn. It is such a silent area.
Eastern method of meditation is one such Gateway
which requires no Faith in any Religion to understand
things.
My intention is only to guide you in unravelling the
natural mistery all the while you are alive!

No one knows.
No one has died (I mean completely died, not a stopped heart for a couple of minutes) and come back to tell us all about it.
If it had happened I'm sure you would have heard about it.
Given that there is absolutely no proof of an afterlife you should assume that there isn't. But at the same time it doesn't discount it entirely. Lack of evidence isn't proof that something doens't exist but the lack of evidence could point you in the direction that something likely doens't exist.
But nothing is for sure, keep your mind open.

God promised there will be life after death, wether ur good or bad.
When a person die, he/she will fall into a deep sleep. Only to be awaken by Jesus on Judgement day. This also means that there are no ghosts of dead person. They are bad spirits done by satan, imitating dead person, scaring you.

I do not believe in life after death.
I don't believe in souls.
I guess if I were very old or was dying of a deadly disease, I would think differently.
I think this concept of God was created because we are all so petrified of dying.
We all want to live forever, don't we? And this life-after-death & God thingy fulfills that wish...
