Well, the apostle Paul didn't really have that much to say about IVF. So, it really is up to us to make a decision on its morality based on what we see in the Bible. First, IVF is not something sexual, so it would not be a sin based on that. However, it can still create a "divided" home, with a child confused about his father, so I would be careful about that. Especially if you know the father. It can also lead to feelings of jealousy from your husband later. I think adoption is a better choice, personally. However, I don't think you can say that this is a sin, but I think there may be wiser choices. My best advice to you is to pray about it. Continue to ask others for their opinions, asking God to speak to you through all the different opinions. Read the Bible, asking God to speak to you heart. You may even want to fast about it. I would not make the decision until you are 100% at peace with God about it, and you know exactly why you are making the decision you are. The decision, by the way, should be what you believe GOD wants you to do, not what you want to do.

I hope He guides you into His will for you on this matter, and that whatever you decide to do, that it will bring you much joy.

In vitro fertilizations with any donor is not allowed by most Christian denominations.

Catholics and many other Christians believe that a soul is placed in a human at the point of conception. This is why the Church celebrates on March 25 the feast of the Annunciation when Mary said "Yes!" to God and Jesus was conceived. Life is sacred and a gift from God.

In most in vitro fertilizations, more than one egg is fertilized. Several embryos are then placed into the mother's womb. The remaining embryos are either destroyed or frozen. Destroying human embryos is abortion and freezing them with an unknown future hope of ever being born is not respecting the dignity of human life.

Later if and when the embryos begin to grow in the mother, all but one or two are usually aborted, again killing sacred human life.

With love in Christ.

I don't know about 'Christianity', but I don't think IVF is allowed AT ALL in Catholicism, nevermind from a donor or even from your own husband.

NchantingPrincess,
I think that there are more important things to worry about, if you are going to worry. I know what the Catholics are saying, but you didn't say Catholicism. You said Christianity.

Here's the thing that I figure on. Many couples, I've known a fe, are Christian couples that can't have children, but want children. It came to me while I was in a Men's Group after listening to a guy going on and on about it, week after week, after week this thought; Maybe God doesn't WANT you to have children. That's why you are not able to have them. Either that or your time isn't now. I know about biological clocks, and it seems to me that people are awful selective on what they will trust God with. It would seem to me that God knows about biological clocks too.

It would depend on your Church, check with your Pastor, but my opinion is that if there is no sexual contact, which there isn't, then there is no sin issue.

I would not do it, but not because I think it is sin. I know how these thing's can turn around on you if there is ever a Divorce. Think hard, and Pray about it before making a decision.
