There's just so many religions out there and so many different lifestyles...different gods/goddesses and such...I mean why Christianity? Why is it like everywhere I go ppl hate/denounce Christians? Even in my fav. bookstores I see stuff and I'm like..what the heck? I sound so immature because I will admit, when it comes religion, I sort of am. Plz don't yell at me lol I'm so confused about everything...and I'm so confused about heaven, but that's another story... someone talk to me please?

I can understand your confusion and concerns about asking a question like this. There are some very strong opinions that will show up when you ask something like this.

I'm not going to tell you what to do or what to believe. I'm a Christian by upbringing and belief, but I don't believe or follow the Way as some do. Just know that a relationship with God is like any other relationship you will have with people. Sometimes you'll have misunderstandings and times when you don't feel like you're getting what you need from Him. So having times of confusion and feeling shaky will happen. It just means you're growing and asking questions, seeking a greater understanding of who you are and what you are doing here. Never a bad thing.

The thing to be worried about is when you think you know all the answers. (Even if you can quote scripture to support your position.)

As far as other religions, it's not a bad thing to read up on other points of view. Eastern philosophies have greatly affected and, I think, improved how I view what's in the Bible. Just be careful what you allow you're to accept as "truth". Remember, most religions are more opinion and less fact on who God is and why the Universe is. They're all attempts to understand the nature of existence.

If you are interested in psychic phenomenon and Christianity, some books I've enjoyed that discuss the two issues in unique ways are "The Gift" by Echo Bodine and "Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield.

Good Luck.

I understand where you're coming from. I lost my faith when I was around your age. It took my husband and a lot of conversations and meetings of the church to get me back. There's a lot of different religions out there and you may be fond of one over the other but Christianity isn't just a religion it's a lifestyle. It's not just an "I'm a Christian" and walk off sort of thing.

Yes it's hard to be a Christian in today's world. Many blame Christians for things that just have no one else to point a finger at. We're picked out b/c that's how it is. Satan is trying to make sure we're less attractive to the lost people. But being any religion you get looked at in a certain way either b/c it's a fad religion and most people do it only b/c it's "in" right now.

And it doesn't matter how long you've read or studied the Bible you're still new and young to it. So don't feel like you should be embarrassed just b/c you're looking for answers. If you feel like you just aren't getting the answers you need and you're trying to hold onto your faith, email my husband at

he's more likely to give you a better explinaition of the things you'd liek to know about than myself.

Christianity isnt about what other people think of you. Its about your personal relationship with God. Open your heart up, and you'll find your answers. Sometimes Christians get a bad rap, because some people force their religion on to others. Also because its a religion vocal about sin. Outsiders think that means that we should be perfect to be a true christian. But were not perfect. People make mistakes, and as long as you are truley sorry for your sins, and ask Gods forgiveness, you will be forgiven. You sa you believe in God, so open up and have a conversation with him. It may seem silly at first, but if you put your life into his hands, and know no matter what happens you will be taken care of.

If you can try to go to local churches. Check out a youth group. Theres many diffrent denominations of Christianity, and many different styles of worship within Christianity. You just have to figure out what works for you. It can be very overwhelming. You feel like to be a good Christian you should know everything. But know that as long as your hearts open, God will continue to show you something new each and everyday. If you can just try to talk to some youth pastors about your questions. If you feel too presurred move on till you find what works for you. Religion and church should be a family, not a sales pitch.

I hope this helps.

You are feeling the experience brought on by your age. I am not too goo at explaining things, but try I will. There are so many religions I could not begin to name them all. In The Christian Religion there are at this time countless denominations. All of the above claim that their way is the way. I say to you, you are the way. You know right from wrong. It is universal. You don't have to think about it. It is embedded in your soul. So as you go through life listen to yourself. Analyze everything!!!!!! If there is one negative aspect in any given situation don't do it. If you do the payback is long and hard. You will pay back. Look around and see the confusion. It is the payback. So my young friend, do the absolute best you can do in any situation. Treat others as yourself. But never let anyone take advantage of your good will. Always remember lip service is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. I sincerely hope you understand.

Look into them, but don't believe everything you read/hear... Let your heart decide who preaches closest to the truth. Use the Bible as a guide to good living. Even if you are not Christian you would benefit a lot by seeing how Christ tells us to live.... Here I refer particularly to the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Jesus cleared up a lot of confusion that goes along with religion during his time on Earth.

Don't worry about what other people think, be true to yourself.

I think it's very understandable that you are feeling shaky in your faith, when all around us is the message that Christians are myth-believing bigots. I would ask you to ignore all the opinions out there and look at the facts. Imagine you are the judge in a courtroom and evidence is being presented regarding the validity of Christianity. Your job is to determine what is true and act on your assessment. So who is Jesus, anyway? Because the answer to this question will determine your entire future. Look at what he did: healed the blind, cast out demons, healed the sick, raised people from the dead...ok, so he had some interesting powers, and a lot of witnesses reported all this. Now look at what he said. He told people to invest in the kingdom of God rather than in earthly treasures; he preached a message of forgiveness and love and mercy, and he made a lot of people mad in the process. Why? The religious leaders of his day were hung up in following the traditions of man, which they superimposed on God's laws. They were so busy trying to be holy that they forgot to be loving, and they had no appreciation for being called on the carpet about it. Jesus tried to convey the spirit of the law, not just the actions. He was about motives, not just behavior. Ok, so...bottom line on what Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me." Well, there's a bold statement! That rules out a lot of religions, now, doesn't it??? So...in light of all Jesus did and said, was he telling the truth? If not, did he deliberately deceive people? If so, he wasn't the nice guy people make him out to be; he would be the greatest deceiver ever to walk the earth! Or maybe he thought he was telling the truth but he was just wrong? Well, that makes him a lunatic, doesn't it? Ok, so the other option is that he was telling the truth. Well, that would make him who he really claimed to be...which means he is God in the flesh, Savior of all those who trust in him completely, the only way to God, both for those who looked forward to his coming, and for those who are looking back at his life on earth. I would challenge you to suspend all your preconceived ideas and really read the New Testament for yourself, praying that God would really show you what is true. Look carefully at what Jesus did and weigh carefully what he said, then draw your conclusions. What about other faiths? Jesus ruled them out with his "no one comes to the Father except through me" statement. So thoroughly examine the evidence for Jesus, and if you decide that he was either crazy or a deceiver, then go ahead and dive into any other religion you want; they all lead to the same place. But if he is Lord, forsake all else and follow him and you will have treasure in heaven.

The best advice I can tell you is that you don't have to stick to any religion. Understand all three religions first; just read them then you will begin your journey to understanding existence. Why? Well the first thing you need to understand is back in the old days societies picked up one religion and that was it. You can see the problems in the world right now because of this very fact. People are blind to the value of each others religions. But times have changed and the thinking person has changed drastically. People are very sophisticated thinkers now and that’s what you need to understand about yourself. Don’t lock yourself into one box of thinking about god. Look at how the world and 6 billion people think.

You don’t have to pick one religion, the most important advice for the 21st century.

It is because the christian community hates to be wrong, and when people find ways to prove them wrong it makes them feel high and mighty. But the truth is you have to do what you feel inside. Christianity isnt the only path but it is the better known one. I myself pride on learning both sides of religion, what they tell you and what they dont. But the more scandals I find and the more secreats I reveal, I feel even more like I need christianity. If you ever feel really alone, just look at a flower and think to yourself if this world was godless would such beauty still exist. Do some soul searching, find your right path, and live a life of happiness.

There are people 6 to 66 and greater who are confused. Study to show yourself approved. Get into a teen Bible study group or join an adult group. You need knowledge in order to grow. Prayer and Christian fellowship are only a part of what you need to do.

You were chosen by God. Even without understanding you are still with Him. Praise the Lord. Continue to seek answers. Get Purpose Driven Life for a start. Ask your pastor;s wife for the title of a good book to assist you. Keep your faith, God loves you. Learn to love Him more. Bless you.

It is at a time like this when I would recommend re-reading the Bible and seeing what it does for you, or perhaps talking to a priest or religious leader. If it reaffirms your faith, great for you. However, if it leavens you in the same position, or even farther away, then you may want to seriously consider a non-theistic faith. I'm not here to promote anything, but the phrase "I don't want to believe anything else" is not a good thing. Be open to the possibility that you don't believe in Christianity, at least.
