Has anyone ever the word of faith movement say that poverty is a curse and is a esult of sin? If that was the case, then a lot of rich pesons who are evil sinners would not be rich. What do you think?

I like this. Before I knew my husband, he lived and breathed at a crazy church in Salinas, CA. Well, the women could not work and excuse me, Monterey, Carmel and Salinas are pricey areas. Plus, church was ALL day Sunday and Wednesday night. The women had to volunteer at places like Crisis Pregnancy and hand out corny tracts about sinning and burning in hell. During "courting" the interested couple (or disinterested; after the pastor croaked everyone damn near divorced and left the place. I think they have all of 8 families still attending and the school is dust, obviously) could not even hold hands and they were mega monitored (heavily chaperoned) until marriage. Hence, dating didn't last long. And people were virtually paired off. My now husband married a woman he really wasn't interested in but he hadn't had sex for eight years so what the heck, right? Then the kids came. No birth control allowed. And the women wore dresses and "Elders" were always busting people for this and that. I told *Alex I would have been thrown out the door so fast! He says, "Yes you would have", and laughs. God only knows....maybe henchmen were spying in windows. If you were busted on an infraction they would send you to the prayer tower for upwards of 24 hrs. at a time. You had water but had to fast and pray. Then you had to send the kids to their school for $300.00 a month per child and they went in at age 3 for pre-school so this could get pricey. Anyway, the point being is that one time *Alex went to the so-called Pastor and wanted to discuss financial woes. The pastor simply said, "If you are having financial difficulties, then you are NOT tithing enough". Sounds like we are are on the same "page". Isn't it ludicrous? Just absolutely, unequivocally stupid as anything I've ever known. I would NEVER give that up in Faith to the God I love. Now way, no how. God is better than that.

It is a false ideology designed to make those who preach it rich, and those who practice it like magic, hopeful it will work. There is no guarantee that if you tithe or give more than that you will get even more monetary reward in return.

Even if we assume that tithing is the morally righteous thing to do that does not mean that money is going to fall into your lap. God, karma, etc, just does not work that way. Yes, bad things happen to good people, (i.e. the Crucifixion of Christ).

Wake up and be reasonable all who believe in this doctrine. It is destructive and will only lead to a painful karmic lesson. Those who chose to not be stubborn and see this truth will all the more quickly cease some of theirs as well as others suffering.

Peace be to all reading this post.

The Word of Faith movement really misconstrues what the Bible really says. God wants us to seek His will first, not to beg Him for material blessings like some divine Santa Claus. Check out Matthew 6:25-34, and the story of the rich ruler in Luke 18. Also check out the first link below for an excellent overview of the Word of Faith movement and its scriptural deficiencies.

it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of god. mark 10:25. this pretty much answers it doesnt it?
many people have gotten the riches of the spirit confused with the riches of the world. i am rich because i have love, the love of jesus. my riches will come as blessings from god in the form of the things i need. not in money on earth that i cant take with me anyway. i dont want my rewards on earth i want mine in heaven.

What It Means To Be Poor... One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?" "It was great, Dad." "Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked. "Oh Yeah" said the son. "So what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father. The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them." With this the boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are."

Name it Claim it gang!

Salesmen like Haige and Shamack preach that Jesus and 12 were rich rich rich.

Left their Golden chariots out of sight to teach the poor.
If you don't get rich its because you don't have enough faith.
