The issue of 'multiculturalism' is quite prevalent in the news here at the moment. On that point, it seems glaringly obvious to me that religious segregation in school leads to segregation in wider society. How can we expect children to grow up with tolerance and understanding and mutual respect if the school system is constantly giving them the message that they have to be kept apart from people who hold different beliefs?

Ruth Kelly, on breakfast TV, was questioned on this point and her response was to enthuse about how they would encourage joint sports events and other links between different segregated schools... but to me this is just an admission that segregated schools lead to segregated society, and rather than tinkering around with links between schools it would be far better to outlaw segregated schools completely and just educate everyone together. That seems, as the Americans like to say, a 'no-brainer'.

What do you think?

Or have some people already did just this.(arguable)
The more technologically advanced we become, the smaller god gets on the scale of miracles.
Isn't god a term relating to all unknown concepts especially the ones revolving around love and the unknown?
Is love explained via science via physics and magnetism?
Is synergy what we are after, is synergy a catalyst for human evolution?
If there are astral planes, on what level did the first shapes appear? Can science prove this?
Will we ever be able to see extra-terrestrials in our lifetime, are they waiting for us only to acknowledge them?
Are the illuminati really on "our" side, as in the dreamers?
Are the illuminati hinting at us and want us to know the secrets?
Are we capable of being in the circle that will survive if things don't get better?

I don't expect an answer for every question but if you want it, it's yours.

i think there is one part of the bible that is best preserved
this part is said to be copied from what god wrote himself
the ten comandment, the exact word of god. why is it these laws writen by god himself we follow the least?
read exodos 20
nowhere does it put exceptions to gods laws
example Exodus 20:13
thou shall not murder
does god say unless you are at war

Think that loyal servants of God will all leave the earth to go to heaven when they die. Didn't God say the meek will inherit the earth?

Maybe the Big Bang and Mother Earth are their gods. We all know they worship trees. We all know how much faith it takes to be a Godless atheist.

Occasionally I've had to attend religious services and I'm often struck by the kind of grovelling and self-abasement that goes on. The service seems to put much emphasis on how lowly and wicked and worthless we are. I have to say that makes me uncomfortable. How do you feel about it?

Isn't in the times of chaos do we have our greatest moments. Is having curioisty the only way for truths to be realized. I respect satan and his role. If he is the bringer of light, then enlightenment was the goal after the initial shift of consciousness of partaking of the physical apple from the complete awareness the tree of knowledge had to offer. The snake is sacred and wise in many indigenous cultures and it's shapeshifting abilities are a template for us to follow.
Anyways, your answer, comments, criticism?

As an atheist, I have nothing to prove to a higher power. I want to live a good life, help others live good lives as well. I think I can call myself a decent human being for doing that. I don't hurt people. I don't act immorally (sin, as religion would call it). Yet, according to Christianity, people can sin, kill people, rape people, steal, commit adultery, then accept Jesus, and be rewarded in heaven, while I, the atheist, will burn in hell forever and ever by an all-loving being. How is this fair?

why do people convert from one religion to another?

2006-08-24 14:01:48 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous

I was reading the answers to another question, something about relationships, and a lady answered by saying "I'm a Christian, so I don't think you should be having sex." Now, I'm 100% for people following their own beliefs, but I see this element in Christians a lot. It seems to be a conviction that if they believe something, or if their faith teaches something, it gives them a right to tell everyone to live by the same belief. I wouldn't have a problem with her saying "I'm a Christian, so I don't believe in doing that myself." But as soon as she crosses the line to saying, "I'm a Christian, so I don't think YOU should be doing that," she's trying to force others to live according to her beliefs rather than their own. Don't we all have the right to make our own decisions? Is this a phenomena others have noticed? Is it Christians or just religious people in general?
