He had, to his estimation, all power and everything under his personal control. He had his mind on a physical thing such as a possession but never thought about the soul of a person. He was blind to all possibilities or blind to what she would ask. I don't think it was at all Sexual but rather him demonstrating his love for her by giving up of a possession. He was thinking in the Physical and his world of possessions rather than about fellow men or the souls of another person.
