I am a convert to Catholicism from a fundamentalist Christian denomination. I am tired of the many myths out there concerning Catholics and I am curious to know what you believe about us, why you believe it, and where you learned it.

Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Leviticus 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

Ok, here goes:

I happen to know several teens, many I've taught and/or mentored, and others who are just friends through church, work, etc. Anyway, I've been asked this question several times before and I know I'll be asked again, but I dont' know how to answer it, and there are lots of different opinions by people.

So this is the question, asked by teen girls (and their parents). They want to know when they a girl should have her first OB GYN exam. I'm asking on the religion section, because the question is does it have anything to do with virginity and waiting for marriage? In other words if a girl chooses to wait until she's married to have sex (or wait at all), should she postpone getting anual exams until then too? Or does it make a difference?

I've heard many people say it doesn't make a difference, but then some people say it does. So does it?...(more)

So, I asked all the evolutionists and atheists this question: If the earth was made from dust, where did that dust come from? The answers I got were ridiculous. Nobody could argue and the ones who did were just making up crap and using big words so make it sound sophisticated. I got alot of "I don't know" answers and also alot of people saying evolution started when a bunch of chemicals combined and so on.. So here's another question for you: Where did those chemicals come from? Who put them there? Or wait a minute, did those chemicals come from something else? So what did they come from and who put the thing that they started from there? Argue that, because I'd really be interested in hearing your sad arguements.

My best friend that needs a place to stay and so I have invited him to live in my spare room. I have known him for 11 years. He is single but I am married (9 years) and have three young boys. We work at the same place but never at the same time. He works in the daytime like most normal people but I work overnight. At night he would be at home with my family 5 nights a week. I completely trust him and so does my wife. My wife says perhaps rumors will get started but I'm not really worried about that too much. Also, I am a deacon at our church. What do you think?

On these boards, I often find that people sometimes insist that others should be more open-minded. The truth is that they are actually being close minded in asking someone else to be open minded. It got me thinking. Does open minded mean you should agree with me no matter what I say? (which is often what i think people mean when they ask others to be open minded) To me open minded is be willing to listen to any view point, it does not require you to agree or disagree, just listen and respect that what you are hearing is what they choose to believe. What do you all think being open minded means?

I have also asked this question in regards to eating meat, not on yahoo answers though. Unfortunately it was hard to get a straight answer. This is a simple if than question. Don't rush to give me the pre-scripted dogma. Think about it for a moment. That is the whole point to the question, to stimulate the thinking process. If I wanted a scripted answer I would call an answering machine. Meditate with this question. If you have conflict don't be afraid to mention it. This is an excercise for personal growth not a mud flinging contest. I hope you are up for this challenge.
