..And why?

For me it's the sound of laughter,
Because every single person's is unique, and it generally means that that person is being happy by their own standards.

I am 24 yrs old, college graduate, financially independent and I try my very best every day to be self-sufficient. I used to be in a very bad financial spot(had trouble landing a "real" job after college despite trying real hard, parents kicked me out & I ended up homeless because I couldn't afford my own place w/ the $8/hr job I had) and I worked my butt off to climb out of it. I am proud of the apartment, car, & job I now have.

So why is it that so many people assume I live at home? I can understand if I'm an age where most people still live with the parents, but it's not very common for a 24-yr-old American to still live at home. Some of the people that assume I live at home, are my age and have their own mortgages/houses! So why are they viewing me differently?

Is it because I look a tad young for my age? Is it because they don't perceive me as the type who could financially handle the large responsibilities of having my own place?

why is it that whenever bad happens to any one us ,we always tend to look at the person next to u or if u don't have someone there ,u start blaming anyone that comes ur way.why is that?what drives us to that point?why can't we take the blame for our own actions?

I have a lazy neighbor named Chris.I hate him.He has a horrible lawn and doesn't take care of anything. I have tried reasoning with him, reporting him the police, nothing works! Is anyone living next someone that has a yard that resembles a jungle?? And what did you do?

I am not attempting to create an offensive post, but to have a serious discussion because we each seem to have our own set of ideas on the issue of "vulgarity" that are often unique to us. I'm just curious - in polite language not intended to offend - what your ideas and opinions are on what vulgar means, and what the most vulgar thing or things in the world are to you.

For me, vulgarity is anything which intends to exploit someone against their wishes (even if they begrudgingly agree or pretend to agree to it). The most vulgar thing in the world to me is getting people to do your own dirty work against their will - be it involving sex, theft, murder or anything - so that they have to suffer the consequences while you continue to look clean & innocent. There are people who get themselves into that situation, and that's not what I'm referring to - I'm referring to dragging innocent people into such situations when they weren't doing anything wrong to begin with

I used that word in an answer and it came up as all asterisks. C'mon now people what is the point in censoring that word? I really want to know? Does that word really offend people? Why? There's sooo many more important ethical issues to deal with. Am I missing something here?

I am doing a research paper on the lives of my family. My great grandmother ran an underground newspaper against hitler, lost two unborn twins when the nazis beat her for it, and helped transfer Jews out of Germany (According to my mother and her accounts of my grandmother). I want to know what life was like for my great grandparents both born in 1910, and for my grandmother born in 1930. Their last name was Ardnt and they left Germany in the 1950's. I can't really find anything on Germans who weren't Jewish or pro-Nazi, at least not on the Internet (I plan to raid the library today). The outline for it is due Monday, so any ideas now would help me a lot. Thank You so Much!

To make a long story short, there is this guy in my apt. complex that I have seen around for over 3 years. He's always trying to get my attintion and talk to me. I would just smile and go about my way. One day while I had my nephew with me (who's 2) he called me over to help him with something. I went to his patio but refused to go into his house (even though he kept trying to get me to go in) he asked me to help him untangle a chain that was wrapped around a ring. As I was looking at the ring he was sitting on the edge of his patio and asked could I keep a secret. I said yes. He then pulled out a "crack" pipe and in front of me and my nephew lit it up! As I grabbed my nephew to run away, he started to tell me what he wanted to do to me and used his "mouth" as a visual aid! I went straight to the landlord and reported it. She assured me that it would be taken care of. This was a month ago and the man is still here! She lied to me! She told me that "He doesn't have anywhere to go"

No offense meant to anyone. These person are dear to me but that is the personality they portray. One is actually my mom who I love dearly.

In Hinduism/ Sanatan Dharma we have atleast one GOD/GODDESS per person. And the GOD/GODDESSES have their exclusive carriers like BULL, PEACOCK, RAT. Animal like COWs are reverred being a source of wealth for it's milk etc. what about chicken ? it's food of the millions at the most affordable price, eggs are considered the most compact divine food. why this bird could not find a venerable place in Hindu way of like . Any theory?

There are so many things wrong with American society today, especially with the people, that it's getting annoying just to live here. Sure, you can ignore it, but I've witnessed the following and I witness it daily: major road rage, careless behavior and drug/alcohol/cigarette use, attitude and out to get you mentallities, being bad/fierce is better than being good, on-the-go hectic lifestyles, fights and discrimimnation, overpopulation, pollution, crime, no regard for human life by other people AND by corporations, so you're basically left with no regard for human life at ALL, except by people who care about you.

Kids today are basically the worst.

Yes, good and great people exist despite all this, so if you don't call under these categories, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me your majesties.

But I'm targeting the ills of society, not you. Don't get offended. :-) thank you, tee hee, ree.

im just being purposefully silly b/c so many people take things personally. :-/

I mean it's alright for you those who are for abortion but only u under certain circumstances to discuss the idea of abortion and how it is only acceptable in cases where the mother is rape. Well, I just have to thank God that my mother wasn't like any of you and even though she was raped she had me anyway and gave me a chance to live. I have lived a fulfilling life like everyone else, graduated high school, went to college, have a husband and a baby. All life should be given a chance.
