My stream of thoughts:
Kangaroos, kangaroo fence, desert, crocodile Dundee, Tim and Victor (2 guys from Australia I know), rabbits, rifles, fishing hats (thats the best I can describe what I picture), the orchestra place in Sydney, my friend, my sister (who went there a couple months ago, and got me a kangaroo plushie and kangaroo jerky), Weenie the Pooh, the Simpsons, and the shape of the continent. Also, the word mate, and phrase "good'aye, meite." Thats how I remember it being said. @.@
Oh, and that guy Bear Grylls. Is he from Australia?
I wanna go to Australia. >.< People can't even tell I'm from NY-- I've got no accent, they say!! So maybe, if God is good, I'll pick one up. :P

I think of the beautiful stretch of beaches along the Great Barrier Reef, the rainforests of Queensland, the red centre and Uluru, the Olgas, the rolling plains of South Australia and the Barossa wine valley. I think of warm weather, emus, kangaroos, and huge cattle stations, cocatoos and gallahs, unusual animals and friendly happy-go-lucky people.
Australia is a beautiful country and although I've never been there, I plan to go in the near future. I have read a lot about it, and I plan to visit at least several of your states and/or territories.

I think of rugged 'good bloke' actors like Paul Hogan and Bryan Brown. I think of close-knit communities like Neighbours and Home and Away. I think of gifted, cool, surfers and talented world sportsmen who don't give excuses for failure.
I think of the wide expanses, rocks, indigenous widlife, crocodiles, kangaroos, wallabies. I think of Sydney, the bridge and the (frankly over-rated) Opera House. I think of Australian beer, outdoor barbecues and Australian slang like 'tinnies' and 'winging Pom'. I think of the talented Rolf Harris.
I think that Australia probably has some good writers and artists that I don't know about.
I think of a country that lives in the present and looks optimistically to the future.

id say my first thoughts are kangaroos and for some reason Nicole kidman, it reminds me of a miniature England, and from what i hear a beautiful country, but maybe it seems that people that are from there and move to America are just a little snotty, but maybe that's not limited to Australia, i think that's when they come here from any country

outcasts, no-goodnik's, rebels, a kooky mate named Steve Irwin, beauty, dessert, tiny things that can kill you if you pick them up, roo's, dingo's, "Croc's" AY Mate", a funny culture that is NOT trying to be anything else but "Australian". I live in the U.S and would LOVE to visit "OZ", the ozzy's are know as very aggressive fighters, they have been involved in EVERY major conflict that the U.S. has been involved in, they always throw themselves into the ring to help out the yanks (even when it's not popular to do so in the world community), good friends they are.

a curious culture, plenty of zambians go there for university i hear they are given the worst jobs too, and that you are not too friendly to foriegners.
Also they explore sex a lot, as in thay take it to another level.
