We live in a culture of crime and punishment. WE see somebody doing wrong and we want them punished. Is funny though how all of us always try to get out of trouble and ask for mercy. The thing is that this mentality is incorrect. You see, it is easy to punish someone. UIt is also easy to throw the book at them to make them an example but, what this accomplishes is just satisfy some hidden desire for some kind of retribution. In the long run the problem was never solved because when we just punish somebody we never got to the reason why they got in trouble to beging with. Why did the person robbed the store? Maybe they are so poor that they have no food. Maybe they are drug addicts and that is the only way they can get money to buy their drugs. MAybe they just want the thrill of it or like the possition of power they are in. The thing is that the punishment doesn't really fix the problem. Is a person steals because they are drug addicts then they will keep doing this for as long as they are drug addicts. They simply can't help themselves. They have no choice. SO, it might be better to help the person get out of addiction so that the need to steal is no longer a necesity or justifiable. To me law by punishemnt is only there to scare people into not doing something because of the reprecautions. Well, yes, it works a lot of times but it never teaches people that you should not be doing certain activities because they are wrong or bad. Pretty much people stop themselves becaue they are afraid of getting caught but not because they think that what they are doing is wrong. This is the reason why you see all types of people stealling when there is a riot. The fear of getting caught is no longer there so there is nothing else stopping them from doing it. On the other hand there are people that understand that stealling is bad for everybody so even if the oporunity like a riot does show up they do not steal. See the difference.

Of course, not everybody can be convince of rights vs wrong. Some people just don't scare or are incoregible. So, this system does not work for everybody, but for most people it should and it should be preffered over a simple throw the book at them and forget about it. People that like punishment lack this understanding.

I dont understand what the question is. Like activies like leaders taking kids to the jail, I think its a good thing. then the kids can see how bad it is and how it sounds when the doors close, and they will know that they never want to be there again so they wont go kill someone or something like that. I went to the prison with my psychology class to analyze the prisoners and i really liked it, it took me out of the box.

Please explain what child activity you are talking about.
I don't believe in tough love and would never want my child to go to jail no matter what.

Our Father in Heaven told us that if we spare the rod we spoil the child and I take that to heart.
The rod is an instrument of love that the Sheepherders use to guide their sheep to safe pastures,it's an instrument of love and guidance.

To spoil means to ruin and if we withhold love and guidance from our children they will become ruined and wander out into unsafe pastures where they will become someone's prey.

Jail is one of those unsafe pastures where they will definitely become someones prey and I would never want that for my child.
I'll keep him right here with me where he'll be safe and loved.

I think the question is how old are you talking about? Your question seems kind of open! And what activities are you speaking of here? You need to give a few more details if you want us to answer this well!

Once again. We need to know what you are referring to. I know of no one who wants children to go to jail for playing. If that is not what you are asking, then what is?

Obviously the children imagine their activities to be lawless, which has never been true, and never will be.
