I am not attempting to create an offensive post, but to have a serious discussion because we each seem to have our own set of ideas on the issue of "vulgarity" that are often unique to us. I'm just curious - in polite language not intended to offend - what your ideas and opinions are on what vulgar means, and what the most vulgar thing or things in the world are to you.

For me, vulgarity is anything which intends to exploit someone against their wishes (even if they begrudgingly agree or pretend to agree to it). The most vulgar thing in the world to me is getting people to do your own dirty work against their will - be it involving sex, theft, murder or anything - so that they have to suffer the consequences while you continue to look clean & innocent. There are people who get themselves into that situation, and that's not what I'm referring to - I'm referring to dragging innocent people into such situations when they weren't doing anything wrong to begin with

filth that was posted on Y!A simply for the shock value, overt racism, and the use of xxx avatars.
i've seen all that and more, but there's far less of it under the new reporting system.

I look at vulgar as being related to language, and rarely apply it to other situations. Mostly it is the gratuitous use of sexual or bodily function descriptions that don't add to the meaning of the conversation.
