I am a girl from a country town (assume everything you've ever read or seen of country girls "dying to get out" of one-horse towns to be true) and I wanted to know, seriously know, the chances of my fitting in in New York.

There are more than 8 milion New Yorkers. It would be difficult to shove them all into one category such as "snobs."

I have numerous friends from "one-horse towns" who now live in New York, and they seem to have made the adjustment very well. A great many of them share apartments with friends from back home, in fact, so there's the adventure of the big city and a touch of home as well.

My suggestion would be to come and visit, and see how you like New York. The pace is fast, and there are probably many more people than you're used to seeing, but it's an exciting, culturally rich environment with plenty to see and do.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop an e-mail.

New Yorkers aren't really snobs, they are just city people.
It is an attitude people have in all big cities all over the world.
