hear a lot of black people say that whites benefited from slavery, but none talk about how black people also benefited from slavery. Today's African Americans enjoy the highest standards of living amongst any group of black people in the world and have enormous benefits and opportunities that they receive simply by being born in America as the decendants of slaves. Clearly slavery was terrible for black people at the time, but today's blacks certainly have to be greatful in a way that this occured, otherwise they would be living in Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, etc. Some will also say that agreeing with this would be like approving of slavery, but i disagree. Most American's ancestors came here in very dire conditions, and it should be a sense of pride that african americans today have so much because of their ancestors' suffering, instead of being used for political gain. So, why not be honest and say that we all benefited from slavery, either directly or indirectly?

Hi i have a question I have started to tithe, but i am confused... first f all when you tithe are you ONLy supposed to give the money to a church? i ask this because everytime i give to someone in need i deduct it form the tithing amount, is this a correct way to tithe?

My sister in law that is a christian tells me that I can only tithe to a church , that i can help other but it does not count as tithing, it only counts as a good deed.

Please enlighten me on this since i want to make sure i am tithing the correct way, are there scriptures that say that all tithing must ONLY go to churches? I am just not sure if I should just give all my tithing to church, and then give additional for good deeds because i wouldnt be able to afford it .

I'm writing a poem against bull fighting from the bulls perspective, but I'd like to know a bit more about what the vision of the bull is like.

Can they see in colour, black and white? Well, not well? How do most of them react to the matadors?

Thanks!!

I've heard that saying my whole life, but most people (I've noticed) seem to act in contradiction.

If you ask a person, "What would you do with your winnings if you won the lottery" (one of my favorite questions to ask), you will get answers like:

"I'd move to Tahiti and sip mai-tais all day."
or
"I'd travel the world and buy a house in each place I like."
or
"I'd get the hell out of this town!"
or
"If it ever happens, I'll send you my answer on a post card!"
or
“I’d buy a cow ranch!” (actual answer – don’t ask!)

Can EVERY place we’ve EVER lived be “where the heart is”… Or have most of us not found a real “home” yet?

... the lack ofoutlets for sociopaths? In previous centuries, if you had an urge to harm others, you could join the crusades or the inquisition. You could be a mercenary. In the old west, there was a market for Indian scalps to disuade attacks upon villages, so the government paid people to commit acts of horrific brutality. Executions were far more frequent and brutal, so you could be an executioner. There were "socially acceptable" ways of being a bloodthirsy ******. Like the KKK... these idiots could go brutalize people by night and then go sit on the board of Deacons every Sunday without fear of prosecution. Our crime numbers went up when we began criminalizing activities that used to be "acceptable." For instance, 150 years ago, an incident like the My Lai massacre would not have been given mention. It would have been seen as just a part of war. Local law enforcement, too, is now expected to adhere to strict ethical codes, whereas in the last century they could take

The director who cast Diana Ross as Billie Holiday is considering doing a remake of this film to provide audiences with a holistic picture of this amazing woman. (He wants to deal the sensitive matters of her personal life, her being misused and raped by her manager and her issues with bisexuality).

I thought that Diana did a "decent" job with Billie Holiday although they look and sound nothing alike. (Diana was placed in that leading role b/c of her mega-star status in the 70's)
My QUESTION FOR YOU:

1. We all know that Jen won an Oscar for her role as Effie in Dream Girls, but do you think she is ready to take on a COMPLEX character like Billie Holiday.

2. Besides the fact that both women are "thick" they look nothing alike and sound nothing alike. Jenn's style is gospel and Billie's style is more of an eclectic jazz sound. In my view Billie's closest "vocal" match would be Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, India Ire, Eryka Badou or Jill Scott!!

What are your thoughts???

Would it not be good for America, and the world, if the next President of the United States was a Muslim.

It would certainly help bring about a large degree of peace in the middle east! would it not?

What is your opinion? Is it time for Islam to replace Christianity in American politics/foreign policy?

I'm a FIlipina, and my Husband is a mutt (1/2Mexican 1/4 Salvadorean 1/4Portugese), yet he has more slanted eyes than eye do, and I am more tan than him cause I swim a lot. Everytime we are walking together people, especially Latinos look at us with shame, and the Asians are more of whatever. I have known my husban for 5 years, and I have studied everyones culture but mine, but there is no where in any text books that states anything about these shameful looks, and glares. Its driving me crazy. ITs not easy to blend it. What should we do? My husband almost snapped at these other couples one time.

This places them at distinct advantage over others ! Why cant people acknowledge that when people dont receive the same conditions someone is always left at a huge disadvantage. What ever happened to people being assured of the same conditions, thus competing on merit alone !
