This was a National tragedy-involving the slaughter of 32 innocent people!! How can people make a joke out of something like this? Have they gotten so low as to think this is funny?

Its repeated over & over persons who lose control & kill fall within poor socialization skills. Unable to communicate effectively with either/both genders. What common denominator seems to be shared by these persons?
Need you to do some brainstorming for me here.
I work at a community college and I would like to present to one of the professors ideas of a course or seminar addressing this "slowly boiling pot " of anger that flares up once in a while in educational facilities (and work environments) like what happened at Virginia Tech.

On Wednesday, April 25th an "Emergency Procedures Workshop" is to be held here on campus and I would like to send your & my ideas to one of the instructors so that she can include them in what gets addressed. This may trigger a new seminar or workshop to deeply study into the makings of those individuals who make the decision to step 'over the line' and destroy others.

What do you think? How do you feel? What is your opinion?

I was talking to someone about shopping and they said that they expect to have nothing but the best and only buy brand name and expensive items now (or their boyfriends buy it for them) because they never had nice things growing up because they lived in poverty. Since then I have heard other people say the same thing. I always thought that growing up in poverty teaches you to value money more and you are more likely to spend your money wisely. What do you think?

I dont get it. Ladies why do you wear revealing clothes and get annoyed when we look? Do you expect us not to look? Who are you dressing sexy for? If your just testing us then it is like this; we walk into a class room to take a test but the letter answer for every question is written in large print on the chaulk board. Do you really think even the most honest is not going look? Ladies, what gives here?

Why shouldn't we evaluate ourselves by other people appreciation?
I mean, they say: you do not need to have a man to be good; or you do not have to be popular to be good; or to be successful to be good.
But doesn't it mean that if a woman is unable to get men, she is bad; and if she is not popular she is bad; and if she is not successful, she is not good at what she is doing, that it, bad?
That, if no one appreciate the person's inner qualities, then there are none?

Are there any fundamental changes we can make in our society to keep another depressed and suicidal "maniac" from doing this again? Was there anything we could have done to keep the Virginia Tech shooter from doing this?

I feel like we had gotten all the warning signs that this guy was severely depressed or even psychotic and was more than capable of committing these acts of atrocity, but most people seemed too perturbed by his strange behavior over the years to want to help him.

Do we need better mental health intervention programs in our country? Or could it be as simple as loosening our gun laws, allowing more innocent people to be able to defend themselves in situations like this? Maybe we should look to some European cultures for more perspective like this...places like Norway (albeit a socialist country) have an incredibly low crime rate.

Your thoughts, please.

It seems that this stereotype is based on the few uneducated american people that seem to escape to other parts of the world. So let me ask you this. Because you stumbled upon one or two ignorant, overweight, uneducated, fools that have no cultural diversity whatsoever and act like idiots and embarass our country, that makes all of america and americans ignorant, foolish and fat? Why is this? I am tired of people all over the world calling us as a country foolish, ignorant yanks. When the majority of us arent.

I am asking this because I have heard many people say that gun control would be an effective tool to stop these types of horrendous crimes from happening but I have yet to hear anyone propose a specific plan. so what would your plan be?

I am NOT trying to choose a side here, I am just trying to give people a chance to explain their points of view in more detail.

Humour is one of the most subjective things in the world. I think everyone has heard a joke & laughed, even though it was racist/sexist/ageist etc.? Sometimes the fact a joke IS wrong & politically incorrect sometimes makes it funnier.

However, I concur jokes CAN be offensive and hurtful. Personally I feel jokes relating to a recent tragedy are wrong eg a joke about the university killings (because its recent maybe?)

Jokes on the other hand, can provide political satire - South Park, on one level, IS childish and offensive, but on another level is very clever and amusing satire of politics, people and the world.

Sometimes we really cant understand why someone would be offended at a joke, the response to the cartoon of Muhammed in a Danish newspaper for instance I felt was a massive over reaction, but people were sincere in their anger.

This is a long & complex question, 1000 characers to ask wont do it justice, but how can we decide what it is ok to joke about and laugh at?

The details of people that had been stabed are terrific, in Peckam a chorus of girls was singin "kill him, kill him" to a 13 years old boy for him to stab a mate, the reason, the victim was too good in school.

Is the envy, the intolerance, the materialism, the lack of moral responsible for the reaction of the serial killers?, of curse that nobody in his mind will agree with the killing of 33 people but... are the guns responsible or all of us we are the responsibles?
