IF the courts would have released the info that he was declared mentally unstable then he never would have passed the background check.
So the SYSTEM failed, not the LAWS.

I don't believe any control or limitation on guns will eliminate human violence. It's been said, but I'll say it again, a gun is an inanimate object. To kill, there has to be a person pulling the trigger. So thats really the fundamental problem, How do we stop psychopaths from being psycho? The answer is that we can't really do much to stop these kinds of tragedys from happening. What we can do is try for better warnings, better security, and faster response time. Even if some form of strict gun control was put into place, there are way too many guns already out there and floating around. Many guns are already sold on the black market, so if they were made illegal, people would just go to their local criminal and get guns. People take their right to bear arms pretty seriously in this country, and most would do pretty much anything to feel like they could protect their family if anything ever happened. Responsible gun usage starts and ends with the human element.

I would imagine the only type of gun control that would have worked would be to have to guns. Even if we do not sell guns to the public but the police have them. They at some point would end up on the streets. In the end though even if we outlawed all guns. There would still be guns left on the streets. For those that can't get one would still use explosives. Look at most terrorist attacks. They use explosives not guns. I really don't think there is any way to avoid this type of tragedy.

I am in law enforcement and I can tell you, unless a background check turns up something, you can buy a gun one day, and go crazy the next and kill people. You can also get your drivers license one day, and drive full speed into a crowd of people the next day.
There are many gun laws on the books, and its against the law to carry a firearm on campus, that law didn't stop Cho. Its against the law to kill someone, that law didn't stop him. Its against the law to discharge a firearm in many towns, that law didn't stop him.
The only two things that would have stopped him was intervention before it got to the point of murder, or someone in the building with a weapon to stop him before he killed all those people.
In my state, it is legal to carry a firearm in your vehicle, it is considered and extension of your home. When I pull someone over, I use caution because most people do have weapons. 99% will tell me as soon as I approach the vehicle, so, I ask them where it is, then have them exit the vehicle.
I, like most officers in this state, don't have an issue with that. We have the least number of vehicle hijackings cause hey, most people are armed and I for one would not like to take the chance of jacking a vehicle, especially if I know they can shot back.
Besides, drugs are illegal and people have them all the time. If you want something, you can find it if you have the money. I know that full auto AK-47 going for $1200.00 bucks, in certain towns. Automatics (full) are illegal, always have been. that didnt stop Capone did it?

No law will stop an unstable person from committing egregious crimes...
If murdering someone is a line you're willing to cross then buying an illegal gun won't really be a problem for you...
No legislation could have prevented this tragedy.
School mandated psych profiles for all incoming students would probably be more effective (though potentially unconstitutional).

Gun Control was not the problem. People not saying "Hey i think that kid might kill a few people". They said that there were so many things that he wrote that was disturbing and uncalled for but did anyone do anything? NO. The professors could have and should have said something!!! People being lazy caused this. Believe me I have every reason to feel sad and upset about this because I'm from that area but I think that Tech is complete disgrace now.

Why? because of the fact passing rules which make it unlawful to possess, manufacture, and/or sell prolonged magazines for hand weapons makes no person safer. this is basically imaginative politicians capitalizing on a disaster for political income or to extend government capacity. shall we are saying that there have been rules surpassed which constrained voters of u . s . a . of america from identifying to purchase any firearm which had greater beneficial than a single shot capacity. Do you think of much less human beings could have died in Arizona had that regulation been in result? i do no longer because of the fact it could have been basically as straightforward for the killer to tension his motor vehicle into the gang or he would have extremely geared up a house made bomb with no longer something greater beneficial than areas from the ironmongery shop and instructions he have been given off the internet. the substantial's that if somebody needs to injury great communities of people, they're going to do it regardless the guidelines in place. it is has been shown time and time lower back in different countries the place firearms have been banned altogether.

It is nonsensical to think that the enacting of a gun control law will prevent someone from murdering others. If someone is willing to commit mass murder, why in the world would they obey a law against owning a firearm if that were their chosen method of committing the murder?
People confound passing a gun control law with preventing guns from being in the hands of criminals. The two are totally unrelated.

NO kind of gun control would have stopped what happened. People are going to find a way to get guns no matter what-just like drugs. They can try to control it all they want, but it will never truly be under control.

He was referred to a mental hospital for suicidal leanings but will still able to buy a gun legally. There should be some hold on those like him and anyone else arrested for fighting preventing them from buying firearms.
