America is not the government. America is the people! The only thing wrong with the Constitution is that it is written in a language that many can't understand and therefore they misinterpret to fit their agenda. There was a question earlier about if we should have a written Constitution! The idea of not having one written is absurd. If the rules and laws are not set in the written word anyone could just say this is the law and do anything they wanted. Most of the nationalist are like the people in a church that has a preacher that they worship more than their god. They believe everything he says and to hell with anything that contradicts his beliefs even when shown the errors he makes. This is the mentality of the Obamabots and other idiots in the world today. I believe in America, I love my flag, I support our troops, and I hate our government, but love our Constitution and our freedom. I will obey just and moral laws. I will not rebel against the government as long as it is working for the people and attempting to help those who are being oppressed, but, when it starts offending and corrupting our rights and freedoms, I will fight in any way needed to protect your and my freedoms. I am old military, from before and during Vietnam. I am battle trained and scared. I offered my life to help hold to the rights and freedoms of every American citizen and to relieve the oppression of others around the world. I have only this to say. It is the words of Patrick Henry, which he spoke during our war for independence, "Give me liberty or give me death", for I will not live under the oppression of a dictatorial, oppressive government! AMERICA, first and foremost!

ego issues man.
They feel it's easy to make a vague generalization based on our pop-culture, entertainment icons, president, and general outlook on life and the world.
For the most part I would venture to say we American's are more selfish than our Asian and some European brothers. But I also think we have just as good family and social values and expectations as the rest of the globe.
But with our governments structure and the handling of news we are pretty much open targets cause we throw everything out in the open for all the world to see regardless of what their opinion on matters may be.
Basically it is the bad that comes with all the good. You gotta accept it or do something about it. those are your choices.... If you are going to champion the cause good luck cause Tom Cruise will just say or do something assinine and completely negate all your hard work and everyone will think we are half-wit douche bags like him again

Sorry to say the majority of Americans are ignorant. Thats because by nature we only like things that are convenient for us. But I do respect those individuals, who try to educate themselves, and try to come up with a solution to the problem.

In my humble view, the problem is that the vast majority of Americans ARE educated, well-meaning, and generous as well. Some of us have yet to realize that while we may be "only one voice", those "one voices" add up. The majority of Americans truly disagree with many volatile issues in today's world. They unfortunately don't feel their voice counts and as a result of the minority being very vocal, the world paints a distorted view of America.

No. I believe the stereotype is based on scores our high-school students achieve on math/science as compared to other countries. I also think it's based on the fact that so many people here are religious, yet ignorant of that religion.
I believe the majority of americans are ignorant.

No, yours is a Great country with many great citizens.
I am Indian and love my country - but that does not make me look down upon any other nationals - I judge people (only when I have to) by their deeds and behaviour and not by their nationality.

I have lived in this country all my life. The majority ARE ignorant and culturally barren. Of course, I'm sure that it is like that in all other countries too.
A lesson that ust be learned: the majority sucks.
