I got an email from someone who obviously has a vested interest in a certain cause. Just because I disagreed, (didn't insult, just disagreed), she REPORTED me, then e-mailed me to say she'd done it! That seems pretty childish to me, not to mention nasty. I disagree w/people all the time, but don't report them, unless, say, they're insulting me, openly advocating violence or discrimination, etc.

If this has happened to you, I'd appreciate some CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions on what you have done that's been most effective. I don't expect the mods to solve this problem (not YET anyway!). What happened to Free Speech???

I have just gotten home from a holiday to find i have been broken into and had my moped stolen (amongst other things). To make things worse i have found out a neighbour who i have previously got along with had told the bstards i was away and which house i live in. I now know who these thieving smackheads are and that they sold my moped for £20 this morning. I havent called the police because it happened 1 day after i left and im a singlemum who doesnt want my windows putting through for doing so..... but i have some friends who are willing to beat them up. Should i just leave it or let them have retribution?

I truly am not a racist. Some blacks, and other minorities too seem to always blame everything on race.
There are too many race problems out there already. Let's work on the real problems.

If you woke up tomorrow, looked into the mirror and realised that you were magically changed into a person of the opposite sex, what would be the first three things you would do? Don't hold back...

I went to a shelter for abused children over the Christmas holiday. They put on a beautiful play and it was very touching. What I wasn't prepared for was the outward signs of physical abuse that I saw on some of the children. It was sickening and I almost had to leave because it was so upsetting to me. I just don't understand what could make any adult physically and mentally abuse children. It has to stop! We have to put an end child abuse! What are your ideas?

Everything I've done in my life up to this point has been trivial. I go to UW Madison and it feels like some sort of joke. My job just keeps giving me bonuses for doing easy crap.... People's motives are so transparent it's like they are poorly-programmed machines....

I need some sort of challenge in my life. Where can I find it?

We have probably all been there, car breaking down in the highway or stranded in the cold because you forgot something - a passerby comes along and takes you back, it's along the way but; and this is where situations differ. If you were a pretty gal, he may become obnoxious and request inappropriate favors ... ... "If I had not helped you, you would have been extremely screwed!" Does that mean that the person who took that ride now becomes obligated?

This is one of many scenarios. A person can come to huge financial difficulty and likely to live in the streets if not for some help. But does help mean you become a puppet for that person?
Returning the favor should put things back to perspective but men being men, not all of them would want that - maybe they want other favors that you do not feel comfortablel with?

Do many people know that anyone can go along to a surgery held in their community and speak with Local Councillors about issues of concern? I wouldn't mind betting that two thirds of the British public either are not aware of this or are too timid or lazy to do it. Just check your local council helpline for the info, the times and venues. I am never out of the places and have a great regular rapport with one very effective Local Councillor. I have effected some very major changes and improvements locally this way. This method of action would be a good start if enough people objected to issues and problems emerging in their localities or cities/towns. Britain's public MUST learn to use the powers of their civil rights and not just accept everything that they are slapped in the face with by a corrupt and totally manipulative government ! I am at present working on a website listing EVERY local council surgery by monthly timetable and venue address in the UK. Getting there slowly.

I was just comparing my own life to those of other people's and I'm outraged. Why are some people blessed with money, good-looks, friends and a tight-family when there are people out there starving in Africa? The problem is that lucky people don't even appreciate their blessings, they're usually ignorant to how lucky they really are. Society is just a huge bummer. My question is that, if there really is a God, why is the world so injust? There should be more of an even distribution of bad and good luck, but it seems like all the bad luck is pushed over on some people and all the good on others.

Think about it. We gotta deal with our parents, who are constantly on our backs. We gotta deal with friends and all their holy "life advice". We gotta deal with the government: right-wing or left-wing, they're just two sides of the same coin, shoving their conservative and liberal dogmas down our throats. And then there's the media, who think they know more about what I should want from life than I do. I just get so confused sometimes, and I'm fed up with trying to appease all these different influences in my life. I've tried before, and it's impossible to please everyone all the time. People should listen to their own voice. It's just so hard sometimes. Sometimes I feel like I have 30 different voices shouting in my head, telling me what to do. Do any of you ever feel this way?

Okay, as a young girl, I grew up in the 80's and teen years the 90's. But what do you remember about those childhood Years? I remember I loved She-ra, Jem and the holligrams, Those collect-a charm necklaces, the little rubber band bracelets, Rainbow brite, Punky brewster, the smurfs and Burple(the kool aid copycat in the streatch bottles.) What do you remember? What were you in to?

Lately, I've been seeing and hearing a lot of people openly espouse anti-China rhetoric. For example, "cheap stuff made in China", "China is our new enemy", "we owe lots of money to China", "China will be the new superpower"...In America's supposedly tolerant society, it was frightening to see how quickly people here lashed out, often murderously, against Arab-Americans. Combine this with the animosity toward North Korea and do we have another wave of hate aimed at Asian Americans by the majority in the near future?

I have become involved with an organization that is trying to help homeless families. Many people are one paycheck or credit card away from being homeless. The option we are working towards are filling the empty sunday school classrooms in churches and letting families stay in them during the week, giving a family a room gives them their own space to regroup and with support get back on their feet. Once you get into the homeless world you find children are the victims. The older children become angry and embarrased by first being poor and then by being homeless. We are trying to give them shelter and support to get back on their feet. Most shelters are not designed for families, they have womens shelters that also house children but it becomes a problem if they have a son over 12, because he can not stay in most womans shelters. For me, its the kids and we have to keep families together
