I went to a shelter for abused children over the Christmas holiday. They put on a beautiful play and it was very touching. What I wasn't prepared for was the outward signs of physical abuse that I saw on some of the children. It was sickening and I almost had to leave because it was so upsetting to me. I just don't understand what could make any adult physically and mentally abuse children. It has to stop! We have to put an end child abuse! What are your ideas?

Most child molesters were molested as children themselves. To stop the cycle from repeating, we would, as a society, have to find a way to prohibit some people from having children.

it has been going on since before recorded history... What goes on in the U.S. is nothing to what goes on in many other places... but as far as the U.S. goes it can only be stopped when the general public decides to stop it. Most of it is know to others who witness it and do nothing... and a lot of the fear of doing anything is that some extremists want to label almost any form of discipline as abuse...there are also many known cases of people being falsely accused undercurrent law... what would happen if the extremists got their way and made even more strict laws?

we should make safer shelters for children with health centers like fresh squeezed juice, fruits, veggies, canned meat (not too healthy-but cheap) salad...also there should be a " Holiday Camp" program at the shelters. There, families take one or two shelter kids home for Xmas, Thanksgiving, Easter....etc. The families feed, and buy one pair of clothes for the kids. By starting the " Holiday Camp" families will share their kindness and blessings with children less fortunate.

You can raise awareness, provide education, parenting and stress management classes for a start. Telephone help lines, parental assistance (think super nanny on a local level), and no tolerance laws too. The sad fact remains that not every person is fit to parent. In this case, free birth control wouldn't hurt.

Abused children are mostly from unstable or one-parent (single mom) families.
The reason for the distruction of the family unit in the western society is one and only and is very obvious:

The ideas is every part of society should respect each other...Like the young respect the olds and vice versa...
Why should we hurt the child...Does there cause any harm to our lives?...Afterall they was still a child...Dont reached a puberty yet...Why not should we become more realistic and think rationally...
Dont think the act of abuse that we does to them will not bring a punishment...It will repay someday...
