depends on how many customers were doing that to you, depends on when they started verbally abusing you, and for what reason. If you feel uncomfortable, emotionally or physically threatened or feel your cashbox is threatened, sure leave, but don't think of it as leaving because something happened, but think of it as leaving to improve your skills and income.

stop - you're on the minimum salary and you do no longer could tolerate that... stop in a blaze of glory and carry onto your delight - there are a lot of alternative jobs available plus, you may spell, which isn't the case with greater human beings at right here, so a minimum of you have an education of types. you would be superb. that's not the comparable concern yet I as quickly as labored as a cashier in a tea backyard and a guy tried to rob the area and held a knife at my face. regrettably for him i grew to become into the different area of a counter and had a jug of boiling water in my hand on the time. Now that's interest delight.

I have had this problem long ago working as a cashier and as a waitress.They teach you that the customer is always right.Of course we know their not some are abussive others rude just plain mean but it's only a job so your best response would probley be to just be polite to them and say have a good day and God bless you. What could they possibly say to that.Of course report it to management and ask their opinion . hope this helped.

I have had this happen before when I worked as a waitress. Try to ignore it as best as you can and when and if it gets abusive, very professionally state that they have lost their right to be treated as a guest in the establishment. And if management doesn't back you up, then leave the job and sue the crap out of your employer. Harrassment is against the law and your boss should not allow it. Your employer is responsible for the guests in there if he allows it to continue.

Quit. I make more as a booking agent than I would as a data entry clerk. Waitressing meant having tips and having to put up with unpleasant circumstances. There was an ad today for reception/data entry. They wanted experience and possibly some education and for that, they would pay $9.00 an hour.
Where I live, they want experience and education but prefer to pay minimum wage. $9 is one dollar above the wage. They only hire part-time and want you to be available all the time. I admit that booking appointments for product demos, delivery of bags and shampoo, upholstery cleaning, carpet-cleaning, vacuum sales, vacuum cleaner checks, parts, etc... is hardly the joy of my life but I make more money doing it and get full-time hours with bonuses and such.

I had a customer call me stupid and I voided the transation and refused to take her. My manager did not back me up and now I ignore him. They have always told us "employees are more important" and he proved that wrong by ignoring the fact that the customer was wrong. I need the job now to pay for school and I am not going to get a great job until I finish college so for now I deal with it.

Life is too short to waste time as a wage slave serving idiots and jerks. Customers are NOT always right...and sometimes they need to be shown the door. If your workplace has many more jerks than nice people, then you need to decide what your life is worth. Is your life only worth a paycheck and a near constant stream of abuse?

I would not walk out, but talk to your supervisor and ask him/her what they think is the best way to handle the situation. Consequently, think about why you are working as a casher. If you get education, you don't have to work as a casher. Most service jobs which deal with public do not require college degree, so you may have no choice but to work with public, if so, you may want to come to terms that you have to be able to deal with people like that.

I'd finally give as good as a got and be fired. LOL! Seriously, I'd quit. Life is too short and there are always other jobs. Don't think there are other jobs? Check the want ads, there's always jobs. May be jobs you don't want, but there ARE other jobs.
