Lately, I've been seeing and hearing a lot of people openly espouse anti-China rhetoric. For example, "cheap stuff made in China", "China is our new enemy", "we owe lots of money to China", "China will be the new superpower"...In America's supposedly tolerant society, it was frightening to see how quickly people here lashed out, often murderously, against Arab-Americans. Combine this with the animosity toward North Korea and do we have another wave of hate aimed at Asian Americans by the majority in the near future?

The old sentiment used to be that China was this backwards Communist country that had a bad record of human rights violation. Americans were not concerned with China's economic might. Today, it is different. Go to your local magazine rack and read the latest Time Magazine (as well as others, like the National Review) and you will see many reports on China's rise and economic threat to the United States. This seems to be the new sentiment that is hovering in America these days.

You hit my pet peeve here, first of all let me explain some misunderstanding. When American clothes are made in china people think that the stuff that is made of is cheap, let me explain that it has to be made to U.S specifications, ie.. the material is fire proof, the color should not run when wash, do not need ironing, anti-allergen. among so many many other things. most of the time the material for clothes are made in New York City factories and shipped to China where we give them the pattern for what ever is to be made and the Chinese boss gets paid goodddddddddddd money but of course he hires cheap labor to do the stuff, it is sad. But it makes me angry when people said because it is made in China or Korea it is cheap, they have no idea how ignorant they are. All our children clothes are fire proof that is if it made for the American Manufacturers. Why ?is the law.

I am asian who lives in Texas and even though rasicm against asians exist, I don't think it is currently a big problem to make it an issue. Once certain groups start crying wolf, they are basically making it harder for the rest of us.
I have yet to see any blatant disdain for China. Also most americans with a brain know the difference between North and south Korea.
Asian companies offer alot to the economy and entertainment. Nintendo, Sony, Samsung, Honda, Toyota...etc.
Most asians are known to be religious and spiritual, but I don't see them declaring Jihad anytime soon.

I don't think it will be a problem. We heard the same stuff fifty years ago with anti-Japanese talk. Now Japanese manufacturing is admired worldwide. Twenty years later, it was anti-Taiwanese. While Taiwan hasn't achieved the quality reputation that Japan has, it's still pretty good. The quality of Chinese goods have skyrocketed, as well as the quantity imported.

No. Asians are not working as terrorists against the USA. We've learned a lot, since our mistakes of WWII. Asians are now a vital part of our culture and history. Asian-Americans are Americans. Even Chinese-Americans espouse anti-China sentiments.

Not unless China declares war on the U.S. or commits a terrorist act on U.S. soil. Like Japan did on December 7,1941 and Japanese-Americans were rounded up and put in camps during the war.

I have heard all that crap for decades. Some people are just idiots and racist. Although if a bunch of Chineese people fly planes into American buildings and then on TV we see millions of Chinese people burning U.S flags and cheering the deaths of innocent people like the middle east did on 9/11. Then yes you will see an increase in animosity.
